Has anyone ever Cerakoted a stainless AR bbl? I have one to do for a friend in FDE and was concerned about the coating adhering to the stainless. I thought of roughing it up a bit with a wire wheel so the cerakote has something to 'bite' in to. The current ss finish is a bit 'satin' and not gloss smooth.

    Any suggestions/comments/experience?

    Thanks.

The coating work I have been a part of always started with bead/sand blasting to clean and rough the surface. Stainless is some tough material. I would do the blasting and try that approach.

Listen to AllenM.... He Cerakoted a stainless barrel on my .458 SOCOM both action Savage to make it more inconspicuous in the woods. No issues with it coming off the barrel.
