I've followed closely the thread regarding places in Indianapolis that are off-limits for carrying your firearm even w/ your LTCH.

I live in the Evansville area and am wondering if anyone knows of places down here where carrying is a no-no. I realize schools, government buildings, etc. are off limits.

For instance, I've visited Scales Lake Park in Boonville (Warrick County) and they have a sign stating "no firearms". Does this sign invalidate my LTCH?

you're just not supposed to take it in there, otherwise, I wouldn't see the problem with the rest of evansville aside what you mentioned. I personally carried my glock with me the whole day during a refinery tour and even forgot I had it in my inside coat pocket when while I was playing holdem in aztar....I noticed when I got back to my room, and said "oh crap, that could have been bad"

I'm pretty sure the casino is no guns permitted either.

Carrying on a casino-riverboat is forbidden by Indiana State law, just lke schools. I don't think even law enforcement officers can carry on casino's, only the excise police as they have jurisdiction.

From the looks of some of the threads on this site, it appears that a lot of people are carrying without reading up on the law. There are good books available at resonable cost. Indiana Handgun Law by Bryan Ceique (spelling), second edition and the previous edition are a must have for anyone who carries in Indiana. They are always available at the Indy 1500. Read what a lawyer says about the law. It isn't as cut and dried as some on this forum think. The legislature makes the law but the courts determine what the words mean through rulings and previous case law. Remember, ignorance is no excuse. Relying on website opinion could get you arrested, fined or jail time, not to mention lifetime loss of your 2nd ammendment rights. The State of Ohio also publishes a nice book called Ohio Handgun Law covering their state. Just my 2 cents.

sounds about right, I didn't even realize I still had it in my pocket until I got back to my room after a long stint at the holdum table....

I think I will purchase the book. The last thing I want to do is break the law and lose my 2nd Ammendment rights.

I'm also paranoid because I grew up in California where gun laws are very restrictive.

For those interested, the correct title and author of the Indiana gun law books is:
Indiana Handgun Law 2005 by Bryan Lee Ciyou, Esq.
    The follow up book is:
    Indiana Handgun Law, Second Edition

I don't know if any of the first editions are still available. I think they compliment each other even though the second edition is updated.

    Available through:
    Ciyou & Dixon, PC
    320 North Meridian St.
    Suite 311
    Indianapolis, IN 46204
    Phone: 317-972-8000

Last I heard, the price was about $30.00
