Does anyone know if its possible to buy just a .22 bolt action receiver? I want one to build a pistol and not sure if any manufacturers sell or will sell just the action. I'm going to call all the major manufacturers to find out, but I thought I'd see if I could find one that someone knew of for sure.

Ive seen savage actions at buds, but I dont think any 22, and they were still like 500 bucks.

Might have to buy something like a savage mkII, cheapest model, and strip it.

The problem is that I want a pistol, and I can't legally convert a rifle to a pistol. Otherwise I'd just buy a T/C hotshot or savage rascal and cut it down.

thats what I've been considering. I'm just not sure how the left handed action will feel in a right side holster.

So you're wanting it as a carry piece? Unless you're a lefty though, isn't it going to be awkward with a right-handed bolt (and if you're a lefty you'd have the same issue, just on your other hip)? If it's just going to be a range gun, then really the holster won't be necessary will it?

You might try to find a good used ANSCHUTZ EXEMPLAR pistol.

+1 I had one to shoot small bore silhouette, never did like the balance of it except in Creedmore position. It was very accurate.

Have you considered a Thompson Contender?

If you buy a rifle receiver and make a pistol out of it, you have legal problems.

Wondering.............what if a pre '68 non serial number action only left the factory, was never assembled into a rifle?

BTW, I rather like my Contender ;)
