Who needs a Benelli M4 or a Beretta 1301 when you have a 100+ year old shotgun that holds 10 rounds? Got this old Auto 5 (1909 dated receiver/1925 dated barrel) from my dad. Picked up a Nordic 5 shot extension cheap off eBay. Plan on taking off the wood and replacing with black polymer furniture. Barrel is 27-1/2” long and I could cut it back 3-3/4” if it was worth the effort. 0BC4086D-8B33-4D07-A9A9-0E870EA67ECA.jpeg 2CD02C9D-6862-4798-AF52-8B7D55E30CFA.jpeg

To each his own. That is a good looking shotgun. If I was going to modify something like that, I'd get a replacement barrel and cut it.

One day, you never know, you might want to put it back to original. :twocents:

Technically it isn’t the original barrel. I have been watching auctions for used barrels but they don’t go cheap and some are ribbed or choked too tight. Plan on keeping the original parts to put it back to “original” if needed.

I'm also in the Lever B camp...

I mean when that wood and steel has worked for 100+ years, why step all over yourself on purpose?
Are ya really ready to start improving on Mr Browning's machines?

No one smart goes knocking on Murphy's door!
