Ryan, you were told 7 years ago that the tooth needed treatment and you put it off. You had SEVEN YEARS to save the money, but you put it off. If you had seen me before I retired, I'd have hooked you up, bud. It would only have cost you a few guns ... :rockwoot:

Only pointing out the obvious to rag on you and to put the blame where it belongs in this frenzy of dentist bashing. Just speaking the truth in love, my friend ...

Well, since I like you for the most part, I'm willing to change the subject.

    COPS SUCK!

That should take the heat off of you for a while at least.

I'm going to read this thread daily. What a confidence booster. After reading these stories I'm thinking1) I need to raise my fees, 2) only being able to recall a couple cases in my 20 yr career that could possibly be described like these I should be rich.... ok, now that I hear both those thoughts together, see#1.

2 years ago my 14 yr old son and I were wrestling around and I got head butted in the mouth. Broke a lower tooth. Cutting through the lousy details and over $2,000 later I pulled the tooth myself about 6 weeks ago. Small vice grips did the trick. No more wasted money on sub par dental care.
I've only had 3 cavities my whole life and I was very young then. Straight, white, and until recently....numerically correct. Heck, I've lost half my hair, what's a tooth or two at this point in life.

Edit....I was just thinking I could have saved all that money and put it towards another quality 1911. Stupid me for not getting my priorities in line.

Call Wells dentistry in Martinsville. Get it fixed right. Fixed my cracked tooth (dang mountain bike crash) and i had no issues. Not only is the metabolism fast but i have a 3rd root. He took care of it all.

I'm not dentist bashing. I'm root canal bashing. :)

^^^^THIS^^^^ I like my dentist but have panic attacks at the thought of going so I don't.

He even has a note in my chart to greet me with a margarita but those darn assistants never have one ready for me.

I actually find going to the dentist therapeutic in some respects... and my teeth are pretty bad. I am going Monday for another 'deep cleaning' requiring novacaine. I've had root planing, root canals, extractions, etc... Dad has the same issues, as do my brothers... Smoking certainly does NOT help matters for me.
My wife never saw a dentist until she was 18, and hadn't a single cavity. In fact, her first cavity was just a year or two ago (early 40's).
She and I both have the same regiment in terms of tooth care, except I smoke and she does not.

It's just going back to have work done right a 2nd time that bothers me... and that's not limited to dentistry.

The root canal guy wasn't my usual dentist... He was a specialist. Sadly, I find myself being sent to more and more specialists, when I would prefer my family dentist instead :(
