Tommy Aldridge...especially the Pat Travers Band & Ozzy stuff. He was also good with Black Oak Arkansas, Whitesnake & Thin Lizzy.

So Dave Grohl just broke his leg a few hours ago at a concert. During the 2nd song.

He went to hospital to get it put in a cast, and came back to finish the concert.

    Dave Grohl is a badass.

I had not seen this thread until it was resurrected by the Dave Grohl incident. That is pretty awesome of him to return and play on!

I agree with many of the past mentions of great drummers. Some of my short list would be...

    Neil Peart
    Mike Portnoy
    Tommy Aldridge

I once got to sit on a road case beside Tommy Lee's backstage drum kit while he alternated between rocking out and smoking cigarettes. I wouldn't say he is the greatest drummer in the world but I do like his fills and it was quite enjoyable to watch him up close.

Here is a video of a guy that most people have probably never heard of, Fritz Randow. He only played briefly for Saxon and though again maybe not the best drummer in the world he is certainly solid, especially on the double bass, and knows how to perform an enjoyable solo.

    The old greats already mentioned

Oh don't forget George Kollias. You may not like his style of music, but his accuracy is unmatched.

Probably not a lot of peoples cup of tea. Studio recording:

Not mentioned earlier is Carl Palmer from Emerson, Lake, and Palmer fame... That man could put on a show... About the 5 minute mark, he gets it warmed up!
