If you had to choose just one readily available less than $50 bottle (think just walk into someplace like a Liquor Barn in Louisville) for enjoying after a good steak... what would it be?

Starting to grow quite the collection (for me). Most under $50, all pretty good in their own right.

Ok, I've officially bought my first bottle of bourbon, ever.

    Larceny.

I like it... nice and smooth. The backstory on the name, a larcenous revenuer during prohibition, adds to the fondness. Sipping on glass number two as I type. :)

Also got a bead on when a few Weller bottles are due next week. Learned a new word, allocated, lol!

@BigRed how are those prime ribeyes coming along? :):

No idea what really good bourbon tastes like, but this Larceny was good enough for 3 pours last night.

I may or may not have clicked laughing emojis on every post I found humorous last night. :)

Picked this up after work today. I've passed on it several times but today it got the nod.
I've never had it, so anyone who has, please weigh in as its gonna be a while before I can get her top off. 20210305_175304.jpg

It's a good, easy drinker. Nothing that'll knock your socks off. I pick it up when I can get it on sale for around $40.

My local, small town store has had 3 bottles on their shelf for over a year, priced at $80.:lmfao:

Thanks for the feedback. I'll put it with the Gentleman Jack and Willets Pot Still. I like the lower proof offerings for steaks and cigars where I don't want the hooch overpowering everything else.
I gave a reluctant $46 +tax since I wasn't sure what I was getting into, so compared to your local store, I got a bargain, lol.
    Thank you Sir, info appreciated.

Had several pours of Elijah Craig 18 year Friday night.... now im on the hunt for it. If anyone knows where to find one Im pretty sure id pay over msrp for it to a point....
It's right there, between the 72 virgins and the 2A friendly democrat.
Seriously though, good luck to ya.
I have not checked off a single bottle of my unicorn hunt this year, and none of mine is as difficult to find as that EC18.

I did score a 15 year knob creek yesterday at normal price so maybe I have some luck on my side at the moment.;)

Ok INGO I want to see if there is something out there I have skipped over in the bourbon category that I need to try. What's some of your favorites under $50? My top two in that price range are currently Woodford Reserve and Bulleit Bourbon.
I’d vote for 10High. 95% the quality of Jack at 30% the cost. Mix with pop though for best effect.
