I have the Langdon upgrade of the GenII 1301 (needed just for the goofy Italian bolt release, lol). I have a box car of TAP #00buck so it is what I use but I still have a bunch of Fed #4buck. Flite Control is the hotness in #1buck. Runs the orange box slugs just fine.

All shotguns need a way to carry ammo on the weapon, a light and a sling.

I like that it was built by someone who knew what he was doing. I am personally inclined to trust semi-custom guns built by those BTDT rather than some numbnuts rolling his gun through the Brownell's catalog.

Likes: much easier to load than the standard 1301 (loading is the most important operational skill in shotguns, well, after taking off safety). If you like shotguns, it is all about loading and forearms. I like that the Magpul stock provides nice plane of reference for my shooting hand and thumb rests on the correct side without trouble. Even with my Charlie Brown head the stock gets me right on the sights.

Dislikes: It is heavy. I do not trust the extended mag tube but no problems. Have to admit it is not 1987 anymore. I do not like the clamp on the barrel but no shift so far. I do not need the silly stock adjustments (unlike the guys in the gun shop, "I'm kinda a big man", no, Cledus, you're just fat) as I keep it as short as possible but the Magpul stock does not hurt anything.

I see there are multiple variants/gens of the 1301. There appearantly was potential for a jam during loading with the early models, (operator error?) that they've since remedied.
Do ya have any info on when this was fixed or which variant/gen to avoid this issue?
    Thanks

Date? No, just when the 1301 came out they choked a bunch. Beretta thus released GenII. What date that was, I do not know.

I have always been a devoted 870 user, hunting, shooting, training and in classes (every single shotgun class I have used an 870 even when the world lost its mind and went all Benelli, all the time). I prefer the manual transmission for manipulations (shotguns are like revolvers, it's all about loading). The only self-loading shotguns I have are Berettas. Buy a 1301, send it to Ernie, it is worth the wait and dough.

At the price point the Stoeger is legit. More of a gamer gun. I like mine
My Stoeger broke somewhere inside. I got as far as tearing it down and now it has been sitting on a table in the basement for 2 years. Told a friend he could have it if he could figure out which part is missing recently.

Love my 1301. No issues. 8 pellet is a better load than 9.

When I first seen the video review of the 1301 it seemed like a very nice shotgun. Considering all I had at the time was a double barrel coach gun, I wanted one real bad. Then, I went back to the older video reviews of the Mossberg 930, and it faired just as well, but you can pick those up for much less, so I did. Got the bead sight model. Don't need fancy sights for a combat shotgun, and it saved me even more.

Well, see how bad a Stoeger M 3000 is this weekend.

Read up. Need to get a better extractor and aint diggin the factory plastic rear sight. Wonder what LPA is direct replacement ( or other options ).

If it sucks will def get 1301.
