Better than not being remembered at all. FWIW, I remember it mostly from the movie Contact, which actually was in the same line as its actual scientific mission.

It also always struck me as an engineering marvel. Without it and a handful of other projects around the world, I'm not sure that I would have ended up in the career I'm in now. There's a thin line between, "I wonder how they built that" to "I want to learn how to build that" that movies and media do influence and sometimes for the better.
