I will be taking a trip to Ohio and want to know about taking an AR and shotgun in my motorhome into the state. I'll be visiting a popular place, and don't want to just go with my pistol. I know the handgun laws with Ohio, but couldn't find much on long guns. All I've been able to read so far is an AR cannot have larger than a 30 round mag, and when transporting, must not have a magazine in it. Is there anything else I really need to know?

As you may know, the National Championships are held at Camp Perry in Ohio. Hundreds of AR's are brought into the state. Nobody considers legalities.

Also, there is a rifle match every weekend somewhere in Ohio. I am one of those traveling shooters, sometimes on a motorcycle. I have never considered what Ohio law might be, but I keep my mags empty and out of the gun. Its kinda pointless to show up at a rifle match without your AR....

The principle is the same if its a pistol match in Illinois or anywhere for that matter.

Plenty of traveling shooters use a motorhome.
