I've got a custom built 243 wssm upper on a Spikes lower I built with a double star parts kit, geissele ssa-e trigger, and A2 stock. Recently I noticed some wear around the rear takedown pin area inside the lower. After that I tore everything down and also found wear on the rear takedown pin holes in the upper as well as on the gas key. All the wear is on the ejection port side. Does anyone know the cause of this.

Was the rear of the upper a tight fit when you first built it? I know my DD upper and Delaware Mach lower were so tight I has to slam it closed, at first. Now there are so wear on both parts and they go together a lot easier.

As for the BCG I'd say probably just normal wear. Probably a little more material or coating on that side of the upper or carrier, and that's why its more noticeable.

Looks normal to me. I have shot enough rounds to wear out several barrels, on a couple of AR based firearms, my stuffed showed WAY more wear than that, and still worked fine. Get a little light grease (or the teflon/moly lube of your choice) on anything that is showing shiney. Keep shooting, all is well.

How many rounds have you gone thru that rifle? I like to know when to look at mine. But mine have less than 3000 rounds so far still tight.
