Save your money. Get about $800-1000 and wait for churchmouse to sell one.

Some people will like Colts, some Springfields, you have some that think you have to save up even more until you can get a Dan Wesson, others think we are all crazy and their RIA is tops. I think we even had one guy say they were just as good as WCs... yes, we have our own assortment of mixed nuts. Thanks for the insight guys and the metaphor 88E30M50. Let's say I save up to get a 1911 that lives up to it's rep. What make/model/price have you guys found to be true?

So, best gun for the money?
Right now I think my vote is Smith & Wesson 5" E-Series 1911s.
(Yes, yes, I have . . . several . . . "higher end" 1911s but for a value shopper, my vote goes to the S&W).
My lgs said they can get me a Springfield Armory Defender 1911 for $505. Maybe one could go that route as mentioned above and add to it later on.

Nope. Sure don't. If I see it I respond as I did here.
G****s hate the mouse. I have witnesses.
It's a poor craftsman that blames the tools.
