Okay so my Maytag top loading washer was working fine, washing draining but its basket was not spinning. I bought the right actuator part for that. I put it on its side, no water in the tub but some water did come out. After I put it all back together now when I turn it on wash it stays in sensing mode and the water continues to fill the tub, but it never clicks to the wash mode. However, I did fix the spin, just not sure what the heck I broke doing it

I can’t help, but google/YouTube is your friend. I have fixed out washer and dryer many times due to youtube videos.

ETAm if it’s a washer with a big dial and lights, telling you the wash status, you can spin that dial in a certain order, like opening a combination lock, and it will give you a diagnostic code based off of carious flashes of the lights.

Yeah, it seems most of the YouTube videos. Keep telling me to already repair or replace the part I’ve already done so most likely just picking up a new washer.
Funny, you can spend 1000s of dollars on guns and ammo and it never really feels like you’re spending money but if you’ve got to spend six or $700 on a washing machine, it feels like the end of the world

In this day and time, trust that the new part works is misplaced. Any way to test it or try another one…

Also the drain hose has to be higher than the tub or it will drain while it's filling.

When the tub is full, the level sensor switches off and switches to wash. But yours stays in sensing mode and the water isn't shutting off. Tube may be off the sensor or sensor unplugged.

So I ended up buying a new one just now but plan on keeping the old one and trying to figure it out. Might be nice to have another one in the garage or something.

I did not try to recalibrate it.
