would love to have a way to throw pigeons maybe 75ft straight up without the use of an assistant. Any ideas on how to modify a trap or any other device to do this? I thought about a compressed spring and guide track that would just shoot them straight up but dont \know how they would behave without centrifugal stabilization(spin) I also thought about mounting a hand thrower on a extra trolling motor i have on hand but that seems like id need an engineering degree to get that to work

Sounds like what you want is a "Springing Teal" or possibly a "Chondel" type trap. If you wouldn't mind investing in one, they do exactly that. Or, if that's too much money, you could figure out how to copy one, by improvising the holding-finger arrangement on a cheapo Outers trap mounted to throw vertically. These targets are fun to shoot, and having your own trap you can learn to shoot them on the way up, instead of waiting for them to "top out" like most people do.

Either way, you need the target spin, or your "Teal" becomes a "Duck!"
