I just found out that Uncle Lar passed away last month and that got me to thinking about the ‘news’ bit that he and Tommy used to do back in the 70’s. They’re just as interesting today as they were then.

Best DJ ever!! Big part of my teen yrs. if I remember correctly his son died and he went off air soon after. I still hear John Records LanDecker on the radio. And yes, Records is his middle name!

    I'm sad!

I used to listen them on the way to school. I still relate the animal story about the guy who had venom spit in his eyes by a cobra. A woman who was nursing rinsed his eyes for him (which actually probably worked better than pure water would have). Then li'l Tommy chimed-in and mentioned that if it had been him, he would have told her that he was kind of thirsty too.

    RIP, Uncle Lar.

I used to wait with baited breath for "Little snot-nosed Tommy" to ask "Old Uncle Lar",

    "Is he gonna be alright...?"

    Another icon gone.
