I have always CC'd...recently, thanks to another website, I have been testing the waters of liberty and OCing...I DO get looks ...HOWEVER...when I OC during the day, I am alwas dressed in a dress shirt, tie and dress slacks...so I assume that most people take me for LEO/Detective. I never get a sideways glance. This has workd in my favor because it has helped to increase my confidence in OCing AND since I am pretty friendly wth staff at any store and will call them by their name if they have a tag on, people know me by sight and accept me carrying.

I am ALWAYS very concious about how I carry and where. If I think I may be received negatively, or there i ny obt in my mind, I CC. I always have an IWB and an OWB holster in my vehicle and can switch out...I WILL NOT be wthout my cocked nad locked 1911 if I can help it.

It does make me wonder though ...how would I be treated ..IF...I showed up wth ratty baggy shorts pulled low under my butt cheeks, dirty tank top and flip flops...

I'm going to go against the consensus and say that the reason you get stares with the Serpa is because people don't really know what it is. Everyone knows what a leather holster looks like. If you've never seen a Serpa before, it is an interesting contraption and would take a second or two to figure out what was going on.

John Q. Public looking at a leather holstered gun says, "Oh he has a gun." Mr. Public looking at the Serpa holstered gun says, "What in the world is that crazy contraption?" Then stares a little bit to figure it out.
