If I recall, you are to limp wrist a little with the DE. I could be wrong, I have not owned a DE for over 15 yrs. It is to help extraction.

If you limp-wrist a DE, you're probably going to have a hard time hitting the target.
Heavy gun calls for a strong grip IMO.

    Is your stance off somehow?
Maybe you flinch and tilt the gun off to the side after each shot...
I've seen people 'pull' the recoil up and left of their face; that might shoot the brass into your noggin.
Recoil should go straight back and up your arms.
Even with the big scary DE, it's not that bad. My snub nosed .357mag has much, much more 'kick' than a .44 DE.

In my experience, my friend's DE in .44mag would not cycle properly (or at all) on low-power or mid-power loads.
Try a heavier bullet with more powder behind it.

    Mine never does that.

And I don't limp wrist it on purpose.

Like Astrocreep, the only problem I ever have with mine is low powered ammo.
    It just don't like it!
It will FTE or FTF with low powered ammo, especially blazers.

I think you need a gunsmith to look at your extractor or ejector.
Something is a little off mechanically, but it can be fixed I am sure.
