Hit the Ewing bottoms not expecting to find any cranes. There was one
flock of about 100. While examining the birds I noticed first a badly
injured wing on one bird. And then another with a wing injury. And
then one with a broken leg. All in all there were four injured birds.

Seems unlikely there would be that many in one flock. Reported to the
    Conservation officer.

    Not far from the tree
Nature can be a dangerous place. Lotta hazards for a bird that some critters would call lunch. Think there is a season for hunting them so older gunshot wounds might be understandable.
