The marvel here is not the bullet splash or the bullet rpm, the marvel is a camera that can take clear photos at that many frames per second. Zounds!
Fun fact: If a bullet is fired from an AR-15 carbine (16" barrel, 1:8" twist) with an average muzzle velocity of 2400 ft/sec, the bullet will be doing 216,000 RPM upon leaving the muzzle! This was a little problem I'd give math classes when I would substitute teach (they liked gun facts better than math!). The kids would often refuse to believe a bullet could rotate that fast.
I wonder how many tries it took to hit the bullet with another bullet?
