Really not that great of an area. Just south of Drexel Gardens and north of Mars Hill, neighborhood around the South Wayne area has really gone downhill in the last 20 years. Also a couple of really janky hotels there around that Waffle House. After the main part of the airport relocated from the Park Fletcher area, it became quite a bit more run down.

Meh. As someone who has lived kinda near here for 20 years and been in and out for years prior, I'm not shocked.

That area isnt great.

Seen a few issues kick off inside Waffle House and Denny's type places in the wee hours of the morning. So it's not a complete shock that something would happen there eventually.
But, dang the level of stupidity rises every day

Sounds like it was full of upstanding citizens when the shooting occured.

Investigators are still searching the area for witnesses, noting there were a lot of people at the restaurant when the shooting occurred and many of them left the area before police arrived.

That awful waffle has been there for many years. Had breakfast in there over 20 years ago.
When I worked in Park Fletcher, we affectionately called that area the hood.

That theory works great but what about the KC parade. Broad daylight, lots of people out to have fun, and a dedicated place with police presence. Things are changing.
