    Science is merely a tool to be used or misused by human beings.

    Lots of drivers: need to publish, academic pride, corruption, activist research to provide a reference for appeals to authority, incompetence, and the list goes on.

    Let's not forget. . .

    True Science isn't the issue. It's mainly these people turning "science" into a religion. They always use "science" as a metaphorical cudgel to crush the heads of any "heathens" that would dare stand in their way on the open battlefield of a debate. It mainly stems from an appeal to authority, as the designated clergy of this religion are the "infallible" experts who couldn't be bought or paid for in any way.

    There are many advanced fields that I know little about that an expert would know much more than me, but there is such a thing as mistakes, rudimentary understanding of things, and corruption, especially when governments are involved, and said measures involve restricting freedoms.
