A month back, some nice people at a Jewish Marksmanship blog contacted Appleseed and asked if we would write an article for them on their website both about Appleseed and what draws people to it.
I was happy to put together a short piece for them and explain what drew me in and keeps me...
The AAR and photos are up on the Appleseed forum!
Very special thanks to the Childers family for hosting this Appleseed. Weather was almost as great as the food provided by Mrs. Childers.
AAR: Bedford Indiana, Oct 17-18 2011
Here is a link to the AAR and photos for your amusement...
Appleseeds in winter? Why YHJ why?
1) No sweaty eyes trying to focus on the front sight.
2) Extra padding, less felt recoil (you are bringing your center fire right?)
3) No BUGS
4) Extra padding again, elbows will be thankful.
5) Your sling will stay up on your arm for a change.
6) Your brass...
Yeah, so it was Fenton, MI, but I figure if Indiana trainers drove up to the shoot, it was really an Indiana shoot.
Another great shoot is over and ready for the history books. It was a chilly, wet, and very muddy shoot. Shooters stuck out some very unpleasant weather in order to spend...
Well Day One was awesome. Having never been to an Appleseed before, I was expecting to learn a lot and I was not dissapointed. Today, we learned the basic firing positions using a sling as a support tool. I have been shooting a rifle since I was a kid, but I basically taught myself, gleaning...
People have PM'ed me to ask where I am these days and what I am up to that keeps me from being on INGO as much as I would like.
The answer is that I am spending most of my time working for the National level of Appleseed, I am seeing how getting big has meant getting to field some of the...
April Morning
I just found out about the book and movie "April Morning". They are about April 19th 1775. Do they do a good job representing the events of that day?
Links at Amazon: book, movie.
I would like to publicly thank the Appleseed organization for there outreach to individuals who are intresred in not only learning the fundamentals of being a marksman, but also the truths about the day that carved the future of our great country.
First a big thank you to the instructors that...
Help me welcome Indiana's New State Coordinator:
YellowHouseJake!
Now, here's an INGO'er who snuck in behind me at his first shoot just to check out who we were before signing up to actually shoot. Guess he liked what he heard since he has come up the ranks, exploded on the scene and is now...
Well we scheduled several shoots near where people have asked, including NWI and Indy. More will come as we get situated in those areas, watch 2011.
For this weekend and the next I have shoots in Atlanta with little turn out, as in one paid shooter. Odd because we are at 90% to sell out at most...
I was taking my daughter to school this morning and saw something pleasing to the eye, the Appleseed billboard banner is up. The location, north bound Hwy 67 (Kentucky Ave) in Camby. This is a great location, tons of traffic in bound to Indy from Morgan, Monroe counties.
Wow, all I can say is WOW. I could not have asked for better place to play Shoot Boss in a brand new green hat. I could not have asked for a better group of Americans to be Shoot Boss for. I could not have dreamed of a better venue, with a helpful, hospitable, enjoyable host as the Childers...
I learned to sight my rifle in with only a sling and five shots. I also learned that being able to do that is a source of major annoyance to the other shooters at the range going through boxes of ammo AND using a bench rest. :D
Oh, I also learned something about the history of...oh, I...
Alright, the French Media Report is up and video is here:
Project Appleseed - guns, more guns, and a bit of US history
Frankly, it ain't bad at all even if the name is kinda catchy (I think it is sorta "black rifle" funny actually!).
INGO Advertiser Bradis Guns has posted something that might be of interest in here.
