I no longer carry it in the field for that very reason...use it on my boots and leave it in the truck. Nothing as fun as a bottle busting in your pack -- or pocket :/
Yes, it's rifled. Just doesn't like the Super X. At 80 yards in a sled, it shoots about a foot wide pattern :/. Super X was fine from about 50 yards or less, so I might as well just use my bow!
I like my 500 and use it for home defense as well as deer hunting. Also, pick up a couple different brands of slugs to see which gives you the tightest grouping -- don't assume because you've always shot a certain brand of ammo that it's the most accurate with your barrel.
I saw something saying Hendricks County, but Stephenson Taxidermy is in Madison County, and the area code there is 765 and not 317 (which is on the back window) -- not saying you can't hunt one county and live in another!
