I don't know anything about Moscow, but a lot of US cities are under pretty heavy surveillance. The planning for something like this will involve knowing where to go to get into a facility so they have to do some recon in a way that they don't stand out.
I don't think it's that difficult to figure out where the entrances to large public buildings are without drawing attention.

True, but it's the entrances where you can get in undetected with automatic rifles and explosives that will interest the bad guys. I agree that the US is probably in for this style of attack with all the unknowns coming across the border. Just a matter of time before they try.

From what I've seen on this one, they hopped out of a van at the venue, went up to the entrance and shot the security guards, then walked right in. Not something where detection would make a difference. Don't know about Moscow, but most security staff employed by venues here in the US are not exactly Spetsnaz. :)

Yup. Nobody eluded security or tried to smuggle anything inside. They just rolled up and shot their way in. Very few civilian sector locations in either of our countries are actually hardened against that kind of assault.

Going in through the front door guns blazing will be hard to defend against here in the US where you have long lines and tightly crowded entrances full of unarmed people. A few guys with automatic rifles could get the casualty count up quite high before even getting inside to the venue.

I wonder how big media will spin it if the gunmen are shown to have crossed the border recently unchecked.

Russia has some dichotomies that get pretty convoluted.

Putin snuggles up to Chechen Sunnis, after two wars against them, defends Syrian Shia, fights Arab Sunnis, is in bed with Persian Shia, embraces Turkish Sunnis, and has a major problem with fundamental Islamists and the Caucasus is a hotbed.

I'm not sure what to believe. Putin controls the flow of information and the information itself. Social media is a cesspool of sycophants and cynics. Just about anyone with a smart phone can produce anything and 20% will believe it's gospel.

What can we all learn from this?

It's unfortunate that there were people who were alive yesterday and are not today. They were excited about going to a show. But like @BigRed @TheGrumpyGuy and @Leadeye have all said in previous posts. It's just best to avoid the chance. Large venues with too many people and too many bottlenecks are an enormous target where a big splash can be made by people intent on doing evil.

It sickens me that so many military aged men have been welcomed over our southern border by the Uniparty.

Going to a PBR event, the Ty Murray Invitational in Albuquerque in a few hours. Not going to try and carry. Hope all goes well…….

Pretty close to Moscow I’d say.
