I don’t have an Indiana license to carry and haven’t since I was in my early 20’s. I have been a police officer since the age of 21, and thus haven’t had a need for one.

I will let the seller know ahead of time that I don’t have one (if the add says one is required) and if they choose not to sell because I have no carry license than on to the next interest.

Usually, people want to see a carry license because you can't be a felon and have a carry license. Most people don't want to record any information, they just want to make sure they're not selling a gun to a criminal that is going to shoot the seller's teenaged kid when the buyer robs the Pizza hut that the seller's kid works at. It used to be the law in Indiana that if you had a license to carry, you did not have to do a background check at the gun store when buying a gun. Just show your license to carry and you were good to go. You can also check the stats of Ingunowners members and see have they been on here for a long time? Do they have a good reputation? Or are they brand new. Check what they talk about on here and what they post. You can get a good idea of the kind of person you're selling to that way.

I assume messages and transactions here are discoverable and if needed will be sufficient as proof that something was sold and to whom.

I'm about to do some searching. But let me sudo-hijack since it's related..
I have a Lifetime permit. I have lost the hard copy over the last decade. Unfortunately I never committed the # to memory as I did my DLN.

How do I go about retrieving that number so I can begin the process to update and get a new copy?
Thanks in advance I'm sure I will have some informative response! ;)

That badge you carry is your state ltc if needed.

Very easy to use, I just got a duplicate license sent to me in under 10 days.

Pinning a screen name to a real name could be tricky. Good luck figuring out who the guy is that done out his real name in the bio and used a yahoo account.

First question is the license number.. which I don't know. I need to know how to get THAT info.
Do a forgot password and put in your email address. That should get you into your account and I assume you can see the number in there.
Otherwise, give the folks at the ISP licensing division a call and ask them what to do.

    Just noticed this note...

**IMPORTANT** Due to cyber security requirements, applicants who are seeking their application ID number or Indiana Firearms License number are required to visit their Local Law Enforcement Agency to obtain this information.

Applicants will need a valid state ID for identification purposes.

Yep. I believe it's linked to your DL #. So, if you know a cop, have them look it up.

Thanks. I will have to Call. I'm 40 now I got it when I was 22. I haven't logged on the system since then and wouldn't even know what email address it was.

I did once tell a guy on here that I would need to see his DL and carry permit to sell him an AR15 stripped lower, but when he pulled up, he was in a Crawfordsville police car and in uniform. He did ask if I wanted to see his info. I said no, I believed he was good and not a criminal in an elaborate costume.
I had an officer who bought a gun from me do a quick DL flash.

Newbie here, and was wondering how does the inverse work?

This is my first post, so I can’t respond to seller listings. If I see something that interests me, how can I contact seller to arrange purchase? Do I have to wait until 50 posts?

Yes on the 50 posts, or you could become a site supporter. But that doesn't mean someone would be willing to do business with you. This really is a community first. So people will want to know more about you before doing business with something that could cause harm.

I would suggest reading the rules. There are some very hard to miss links on the home page.
