OK. We have a best song ever, what are you listening to, etc. threads. Now lets go to the dark side.

Tell us your all time claw your face off shut the radio off with a hammer song. And the story behind it.

Mine? Edie Brickell's What I am.

I worked at Dunham's in the early 90s. They only had a 45 minute loop for their Muzak. So I heard the same 15-20 songs every damn hour. I already really didnt like that song before that job. Hearing it 10x a day really sucked.

EDIT: ONE SONG. Not a band or a genre. This is much more visceral than that. ONE SONG.

Its easy to poo-poo a band or genre because its not your thing. I'm talking that ONE SONG that makes you want to leave the room or get a Forest Whittaker eye because you cant leave.
That album of Edie Brickelle and the new bohemians is my all time favorite album.

I can’t STAND crazy train by Ozzy Osborn.

    Just remembered this epic...

Funny story. Rick is classically trained. His agent and label hand picked him to sing these songs.
This song he Haaaaaaaaaated most of all. With the passion of a thousand suns. The only good part of that song were the royalty checks.

It wasnt until Rick Rolling became a thing that he learned to lighten up and roll with it because so many people were having fun with the song.

Fast forward to today and he's doing surprise guest spots with the likes of Dave Grohl where he'll sing it unannounced, (live Rick Roll) and them maybe do a cover of somebody else's. So he apparently has finally learned to accept it.

In The Jungle, The Mighty Jungle, The Lion Sleeps Tonight...whatever the hell the name is.
I don't know who sings it or what the actual title is, and I don't even want to look it up.

The only thing on the radio worse than that are the "Sisters of Savings" commercials for Hare Chevrolet.
The lion sleeps tonight by the tokens?

    Wee-ooh wim-o-weh. Wee-ooh wim-o-weh.

He has several really good covers on YouTube, back during the scamdemic when a lot of entertainers were doing informal videos from their living rooms. I don’t remember what all he did, but I remember watching and thinking “damn, this guy is really good”.
