I think this mirrors my view.

Not much of a victory but a small victory is encouraging.
It's rather silly that selling alcoholic beverages at a reduced price is illegal.

”It's rather silly that selling alcoholic beverages at a reduced price is illegal.”

That is not what the law said. Paraphrased, it said you cannot sell alcohol based on time.

How about a bar offers more free drinks if you buy ten drinks in a hour?

I get the whole freedom thing generally, do we have any laws? If there are any you want to keep, makes those special?

Did anyone note the law also allows to-go cocktails? What are thoughts on that?
As long as they are still full when you get home, sure. But a half empty in the drink carrier when you are pulled over for speeding? Congrats. Open container law violation.

So they better figure out a way to send them home sealed. Like a pop-style bottle with a tamper ring that is on the cap but detaches when you open the container. (you'll have to use your own ice at your destination if its on the rocks)

Their inability to sell me a sealed bottle of corona with my Burrito to go is kinda annoying.

We used to come to a nickel beer place right before the time ran out. Drink 10 quickly. (Small draft beers) to get things started. If the place started to pick up(cute single girls ) we would stick around. If the place was a sausage fest we moved on to the next establishment with cheaper drinks and cuter girls. The only way we went to places that had expensive drinks were if the cute girls were dancing at them and hanging out. Drink prices like all prices do affect where you go and what you spend.

as far as to go cocktails we used to be a dry Sunday state. So one local bar had a quart beer special on Sunday’s. They popped the cap on the quarts and then did not care what happened to the quart. And yes a two liter soda cap fits a quart beer bottle like they were meant for each other. Pop in order 10 quarts the bartender pops the tops and we put on the plastic caps and out the door. It is not like the bar did not know was happening. they were taking advantage of the law to keep the doors open. Now we have Sunday sales so you don’t have to worry about the extra Sunday case or two in the refrigerator.

make a law and the people effected will find a way around it if needed.

personally I like the free drink time at a local hotel if out of town for work. Not happy hour since it is included in the price of the hotel and I have found many a good conversation during the hotel free drink time with like minded travelers out of town and stuck and a faceless hotel with white halls and a elevator.

Ditto. I used to stay at Drurys for that.

And even better? Company was paying so those two mixed drinks and snacks were free to me. Leave the remote office a little early, grab dinner and a beer, then two nightcaps with snacks and I'd settle into my room for a couple hours of remote work.

Everyone keeps talking about price, but the law was about selling alcohol based on time. Actually, from my perspective, the consumer costs will go up not down as they now can offer a special price for just an hour rather than all day…

Good point. Most bars have a daily drink special. To me it was more about the ladies back when I was drinking. Cheap drink prices did not bring in the ladies. I can only imagine what things are like in today’s single and mingle world with selfies and all. No way those ladies will be drinking small draft beers in plastic cups for a nickel each and posting it to the tick tacks.

thus why we drank and dashed if the place was not happening.

Keep laws involving torts against unwilling parties. (I cannot steal your car because you didn't agree to it.)

Get rid of laws where all parties are willing. (If the seller and the buyer are in agreement on the terms, it's none of the government's business.)

Ok, I’ll play the other side.

How is it cheaper than the current laws? Currently the special is all day, not just a certain hour…

Don't really care just interesting to discuss and I do remember seeing the news coverage when it was passed…
Frees the business to do as it wishes. They can keep the special all day if they wish.

    Why do you hate freedom?

Only on INGO would happy hour be a bad thing!

As long as if they are hot cocktails containing coffee let's say. They are not served at extremely high temperatures
