I've had an 85 I bought used about 20 years ago, has been absolutely excellent.
Other than that I never really cared for the brand and pretty much stayed away. Until...

Ended up picking up a G2C a few years ago only because the price was ridiculous (under $200) so I figured I'd give one a try. I have to admit it is a pretty decent handgun especially for the price point. I didn't buy it to carry or anything, but mine has been 100% reliable and is a pretty good shooter. If it were all I had I would be confident in it.

Most recently I picked up a TX22 compact. Now that one is just great!!! Absolutely love that for a pinker. Eats up any ammo I feed it and very accurate. Taurus did a very good job on that one.

Also grabbed a 942ul in .22mag a few months ago just for fun. Really like that one too.

I know they have had their issues, and maybe still do on some models, but all of my recent experiences have been pretty positive with them.

In my 40+ years of owning handguns, owned 1 Taurus.
Was a PT92 in blue finish. Worked perfect, great shooter, easy clean and owned for about 15 years. Looked rough from a holster, but did fire anything.

Sold off and bought a Stainless PT92, shot well, easy to clean, had a rail for light. Started jamming every round on extract. Gunsmith looked at it, replaced with correct part, still happened. Replaced barrel, polished any rough sides. No joy. Traded off with disclosure.

Didn't buy another till last summer. Bought a NIB M65 357mag, 4in, heavy lug barrel. Fixed sights. Blued not the black phosfate finish. Shoots perfect, guess it was a 1990 made gun.

Bought a 856 Snubbie 38 spec. Stainless. Also a dependable shooter after 500 rds, no issues.

Wish I could find an 80's series PT92 FS again. Really liked my first one. Sellers remorse for sure.

Gosh autocorrect fails again. You have a Taurus Collection. Siri or Google thought you had a problem. Silly tech companies.

Quick review (Note...Not at all Trapper Jim quality) My GX4 has shot every type of round I loaded, 115gr, 124Gr, and best of all my favorite 147 JHPs....going to range soon, I'll post pictures....
LtScott, I too had a PT 92, and loved it, but I was going overseas, and sold it to a fellow USAF member...I've been wanting one for years, I was going to buy a used PT 99, but money was tight after losing my job due to the great Bidenomics, so bought a G2C instead...Some day...ahhh someday.....

I bought a G2C about a year ago when they had a rebate which dropped it down to $190. Its been reliable, but the performance isn't anything to brag about. My honest opinion is if you can save a bit more for a nicer gun, that's the route to go. If $200 is all you can spare, it'll work reliably.

On the other hand, I bought a TX22 last summer and loved it. Ended up buying a competition slide for it because it was such a great pistol. But then again, the TX22 cost more and throwing the comp slide on added more too. Accuracy and reliability have been great though. I do think taurus has been making some higher quality guns lately which has me less leery of trying their newer offerings.

I found 2 locally, one at a LGS, for $399, and a newer one in a pawn shop for $359, I was going to the pawnshop when I realized we needed money more that spend it all on one gun, bought a G2c and saved $100, and I’ll get a 99, or 92 someday…

Pawn shop would probably let you put it in layaway for a few months. I found too many deals in 1 month a while back, so the last two I found I made payments on...

Just tryin' to help reach your goal ;)

One of my first pistols close to 40 years ago was a PT92. Great shooter for several hundreds rounds. Then it just stopped. Turns out the firing pin broke. I contacted Taurus costumer service and was pleasantly surprised. Not only did they state it as was covered for life they arranged to have it picked up at my house and delivered back to me at No coat. That’s killer customer service.

I've owned the PT709, the G2C, the PT1911, and The Judge....

The G2C was the only one that had issues...it came back from Taurus in just a few weeks with a NDF note and a box of empty rounds.
It was having issues feeding hollow points....it did work fine afterwards...

I really miss the PT709 Slim and loved the trigger...lol,,,most don't...

I have 3 GC3’s and love them all. I can practice dry firing with my Mantis and Strike Man and then go to the range. I gave one to my son and he loves it. They really hit the mark with these, BUT Taurus still has some stinkers out there.
