    Bought in '05.
Ridgid 16 gallon, 6.5 peak HP, blower-vac. I've used it through 2 home builds and the last 17 years of my job and it's still going strong.
For the price of a pair of panty hose or a painter's, cheesecloth strainer stretched over the filter, you can extend the filter life many times over.

Plus it has a lifetime warranty
Rigid's "lifetime warranty" is a joke.
My brother and I both purchased Rigid cordless drill packages because of the warranty and the "free batteries for life".
One of my brothers batteries quit in less than 6 months and my drill lost the high gear in about the same time.
Multiple attempts to get them to honor their warranty have gone completely ignored.

Neither my brother or I even received confirmation that we even filed a claim.
No contact at all, no response, just crickets...

I'll never buy another Rigid product.

I bought a Masterforce (Menards brand) wet-vac 2 years ago and could not be happier.
I abuse my wet-vacs on a routine basis and the Masterforce is well built.

    Rigid ain't worth :poop:

    Like stated above. Ridgid

Register your products with Ridgid and the warranty is great. I had a right angle driver battery die that was 12 yrs old. They replaced it with no hassle or delays. They have my business for life because of that. Mgderf sorry to hear you didn’t have the same experience.

Hate to sound like an echo chamber, but I went down this rabbit hole after discovering the ShopVac wife got me for Xmas was defective and the company was in "transition"...A few hours of research and I happily own a Rigid.

Might this have happened during the wuwho flu paranoia? In 2020 I had a defective automatic trash can lid, I got no response to repeated messages and calls, gave up on it until a month ago , I called, they answered, I told them my story, had a brand new lid in a few days at no cost over four years later.

You know, I didn't even consider that.
Not that I consider it any type of valid excuse, but it might be an explanation.

I'll have to try to contact them again...

I replaced my old one with a Ridgid. It really sucks.

I couldn't find filters for the Craftsman anymore and it was missing wheels anyway.

That's like my Craftsman. The filter is well retained by a screw-on nut.
Filter still sold almost everywhere. I got one at Menards for $15 (non-hepa type, hepa is about 2x non-hepa $)

    Somewhere else
Damn, that's hookers and blow money, not just suction $$$

That kind of money should get you this, not just a vacuum that looks like it:

I've worked two places that used that brand of vacuum. One was a nuclear research facility, they used it to vacuum up stuff that was potentially radioactive, and the second was in the clean rooms of a bio pharmaceutical manufacture. You'd probably get a lot of suck for your money with one.
