    Id proly go with:

    Winchester brass and primer
    Varget powder
    Barnes bullet

If I'm gonna reload might as well step up from cup n core.
That would be a really sweet load in a bolt action or single shots. Unfortunately, a lot of the Savage 99s in .250 savage have twists too slow to stabilize longer monometal bullets. I had to drop all the way down to 85 grain Sierras in mine to find a bullet it liked. I'm not real keen on shooting a big buck with that bullet but it should be ok at .250 Savage velocity.

Slowed down it might work really well.
    Im no lever fan.
    BUT...........if I ever got another itd be a 99 featherweight .250 :)

Is there a Partition that might work in the Savage?

Dunno what twist Ruger did in their #1s in .250

BTW, zero interest in owning a .257 Roberts. Pops tried to get me into one as a kid and I passed.
    Went .243 win.

I switch back and forth between a .243 using 100gr Hornady American Whitetail and my .50 cal muzzle loader with 348gr Powerbelt Aerotips. Back in the dark ages before we could use our rifles I went with a 12ga Model 500 using Winchester Super X slugs.

I only hunt with 20mm or larger, and sometimes a 4 bore or punt gun... at least since I learned the following truths...

State Rep. Ashley Trantham, R-Greenville, (SC) filed a bill ahead of the legislative session that begins in January that would eliminate the sales tax on small arms ammunition. This would include ammunition for any “portable firearm,” which could include “rifles, shotguns, pistols and revolvers with no barrel greater than an internal diameter of .50 caliber or a shotgun of ten gauge or smaller,” the bill reads.

Small arms ammunition is normally what gun owners keep in a purse, by their bedside or in their vehicle, Trantham said. These weapons are used for personal protection, she added, which is why she is pushing to eliminate the sales tax only for for small arms ammunition and not bigger guns used for hunting or other uses."

This last year was 7 rem mag.
    I've taken them with: 308, 30-06, 45-70, 30-30, 6.5 creed, 6.5 Grendel, 10mm, 44 mag, 357 mag, and a few others I can't remember.
7mm rem mag is by far my favorite rifle cartridge though. It's comparable to 30-06, but there's really just something special about it that tickles me juuuuust right when I shoot it.
