I just got a medical bill and insurance paid so little it’s comical. I’m getting so fed up with health insurance and our health system. I can’t afford to go to the doctor! I’m nearly retired, never stolen anything, worked my a$$ off and just curious if anyone else has these issues? Or what they view the worst part of our current system.

second part I disagree. For example anti-neoplastics (cancer drugs) we have maybe 500 to Europe’s maybe 5. But I think that the government overreach makes it so difficult and expensive for pharma to create new drugs as well as many other problems. I don’t know a lot about but if layers and layers of tape are involved…. Not a good thing imo

I’ve heard the wait times are longer in general (idk if this is accurate).

No idea about the co-pays but thafs only part of the “cost” after considering taxes (really I don’t know pound for pound the stats on that) and which specific country.

I still disagree though about the quality of care. I haven’t been treated anywhere in Europe. I did have to go to a clinic in China (pre the plandemic) and that was traumatizing enough. But I think I escaped ok I had to get a tetanus shot after scraping myself on (Chinese mystery alloy) metal in a factory. (I hope that it was really a tetanus shot)

What do you mean by “Should 5% appear too small... be thankful I don't take it all..."
At the time that song was written, some folks were apparently paying 95% taxes, meaning they only got to keep 5% of their earnings (in Great Britain), but it's just a Beatles lyric so I don't know if it's historically accurate. Point is, the European health systems are supported by taxes, and that rate is pretty high. There are no free lunches.

I can’t say that I have “experienced” healthcare in Europe. From a freedom to choose standpoint and general taxation standpoint, everything that I’ve heard suggests we have that in our favor. I don’t know, after Obama care, I’m still trying to figure out what is what. Now you get “taxed” penalized if you don’t have healthcare here.

That sucks about having to get a shot in China! Glad it was before Covid!! Have you since gone back?
No and I hope not to. It took me 10 years to try to figure out China and then Covid happened. I’m so outdated with the supply chain I would not even know what to do there. And the deck was already so stacked against and unfair to US manufacturers I can’t even imagine it now.

But I think overall (well aside from the sexualization and mutilation of children) it’s a lot better here than Europe based on access and freedom to choose and less income taxation.

Ok got it now. So your saying that you think our system is superior?

Yes if I don’t have these insane copays. If 35% or more of my check is going to the irs and I’m not even wealthy. I’m “middle class” whatever that means. But if I could have Zero copays how could you not be.
I think the out of pockets penalize the working class the hardest and I’m lucky that I don’t have any health issues because I sympathize with that. But from a numbers standpoint if your taxes are let’s say 80% in Europe and 35% here and here you have the choice to get treated with 500 cancer drugs versus 5, then my vote would still stay here.
