I know, I know. You are unable to give him credit because he hasn't done anything for you lately. Screw ABT'ers. Seems to be your stock answer to avoid that.
Then perhaps ... oh, I don't know ... accept it and move on

    I'm obviously incorrigible

I’m challenging your belief that Trump deserves any swamp draining credit
Which definition are we using, mine, yours, Bug's or somebody else? The definition for "drain the swamp" is nebulous. Without consensus on what it actually means, no man will ever achieve draining of the swamp. Trump pulled back the curtain, pointed and said, "He, he, him, she and they hate you. Look at what they've done when you're not looking. Look at how they operate - against your interests!" Will D'tis do that? I guess we'll have to ask a Bush or Koch for the answer.

Well I'll be moving on then and like I said I will no longer make an effort here to give Trump credit for anything nor defend him when he's been done wrong by the corrupt DOJ, FBI, CIA, MSM Democrat fellow travelers and the rest of the deep state slithering snakes. I guess that's the way its just gonna be. Sorry it had to come down to that, but I really have tried.

Sounds like you're well on your way to not voting for Trump even if he wins the primaries

Never said that. I'm still not as shallow and jaded as you. I still have two candidates that I would vote for in the general should either of them get the nomination. DJT and RDS.

My priority in the general is to vote for the fight. It's not very often that there are actually two potential candidates that I believe are worthy of voting for in the general when it comes down to it no matter how much you hate RDS. (Screw ABT'ers) Got anything else?

    Mirror, Mirror.

Will firing Wray fix the FBI?

And what exact policy position is articulated by 'spitting nails from day one?

Maybe it means giving cluster munitions to Zelenskyy :dunno:

There's not much speculation needed to identify who owns D'tis. He'll govern as he is told to govern. Light years better than anything the D's can produce (RFKjr. not withstanding), certainly. If Trump is the brand name and D'tis is the generic brand, and they cost the same, why buy (vote) the generic brand over a brand name? Unless/until D'tis can remove the neocon stench, compounded by the icky Bush, I'll probably continue to buy the brand name. D'tis isn't a bad person, that I know of; but he's certainly slick to the touch just like his backer$.
Some speculative if’s in all that.

Who else in Washington besides Trump has tried or even mentioned draining the swamp
Trump only mentioned it after the crowd in a rally leading up to the 2016 election started chanting it. So I suspect that he latched onto it as a crowd pleaser.

And I am challenging your ability and willingness to apply your 'standards' equitably to all candidates
Again, I didn’t give DeSantis credit for E-Verify. As you recall I said I did not think it’s effective. Is that not consistent enough for you?

So 'Least Charitable Interpretation' is kind of like the 'Lowest Common Denominator' of your discourse. Got it

Just remember not to whinge when it comes around [oops, too late]

I wish more would mention it.
It has been said it would take two terms to drain the swamp - well i don't buy that - it will take a lot longer than that so somebody should start right away. I would but I am old and tire easily.

Not sure one data point makes a curve
It’s the one we were talking about. You got any examples of inconsistencies? I mean real ones. Not ones where you weren’t following the conversation. Or didn’t bother to read the thing you imagined was inconsistent.

Well a bunch of people in the crowd mentioned it. If it’s gonna takentwo years to drain it, I wish Trump would have started it earlier in his first term instead of near the end. But, probably the schedule F thing wouldn’t get past the courts. And now it’s a reallocation sticky mess. Whoever wins I hope is serious about cleaning up the FBI. And the rest of government.

Yup, he waited far too long. He issued the EO definiing Schedule F with two weeks of the election, assuming he would win and implement it in the second term.

His hubris meant not a single Schedule F bureaucrat was identified and fired. not a drop of the swamp was actually drained.

    I'll disagree for two reasons:

    1. The civil service protection laws explicitly have a carve-out for those within the agencies that create/define policy... i.e. bureaucrats who give orders through middle/senior management. The Schedule F definition explicitly followed the definition of the carve-out in the law.

    2. The entire reason for the carve-out, and if Dems seek to extinguish it, is that all "power" within the agencies derive from the chief executive... there is no "independent" enforcement agency of any kind. It is all delegated Presidential power. Should the Dems seek to preclude the President from firing decision makers within the Executive agencies, THAT would be an unconstitutional power-grab.

I have never heard two years. I think two terms is way too optimistic.
