What do you have today, and why isn't it a carry possibility for you?(May or may not be obvious depending on what it is).
This info will help us help you.
I used to have a s&w shield but had to sell it due to money. I have a 12 ga currently but want something to daily carry again.

And if your local range doesnt have something you want to try, reach out here. Lots of good folks here that might have what you want and would be willing to meet you at the range to give it a spin.
Definitely a good option! I’ll have to check out a couple ranges and go from there.

Is there a reason you wouldn't go with a Shield or Shield Plus again? Did it work for you at the time?
well to start the one I had was only single stack which I didn’t like. And it was rather small for my hands. I’m now more looking for something bigger with a little more power behind it. It wasn’t a bad firearm, just awkward to handle.

Find a range that has a rental wall. Ask before you go whether you can switch guns during your range time. Some ranges allow you to trade out and try different guns during your hour. If they say no, find another range that does.

Go to that range and try shooting various quality guns from the rental wall. You will find one that feels good in your hand and naturally points. Others you might not shoot well at all.
Thanks for the info! I’ll have to go and try that out

    Might try a Shield Plus.

That said, Sig 365 or 320 will give you all kinds of grip module options without having to put out for a new gun just based on changing capacity or hand/grip fit preferences.

CZ P10-S also pretty low cost these days https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1023102440?pid=654752
I’m hoping someone on here will trade me a decent handgun for my shotgun and accessories and ammo, but if that doesn’t happen then I’ll probably end up getting a smith again

Conceal carry is more than just the Gun -- what type of holster Are you going to use? then comes the hole new wardrobe! --Inside the belt means all new pants outside the belt means new sweaters. Even for me it meant belt and suspensers to keep my pants up. A lot of things to consider going concealed carry.

I’ve previously carried and I prefer an appendix holster. I have a good belt that worked well with the holster and well all my current clothes are from when I previously carried lol. But I’m looking for bigger than what I previously had so suspenders and a belt might be a necessity

I'd go with the new Shield Plus since you are already familiar with them.

Then as stated above the CZ P10C is a good firearm.
Might want to check out the PSA Daggers as well.

I have a family member who got the new shield plus, they let me shoot it. It’s felt good and shot great. Might have to go with that. Now to just be able to post my shotgun up for a trade.

Not trying to go off topic, but the fact that you’re asking for input on a carry gun leads me to believe appendix carry probably isn’t the best option for you right now. Appendix carry means the weapon is pointed at your femoral artery, which isn’t advisable unless you have a lot of experience drawing from a holster. And even if you do, it’s relatively easy for a perp inside the reactionary gap to prevent you from drawing the weapon. Point being, people with enough experience to appendix carry effectively generally don’t need to solicit opinions on what gun to carry.

I’d recommend going with something that has measurements similar to the Glock 19 carried in the 4 o’clock position with a button-up shirt. Practice drawing until your trigger discipline is sound and you know how to use your support hand to clear the outer garment and create distance. Then you move that firearm to the appendix position. That will teach you the skills you need for appendix carry without the ramifications of a negligent discharge to an artery.

While I appreciate the concern I was soliciting for opinions more to see what people have had problems with/haven’t had problems with. I’ve carried appendix for 2 years and got really used to it. While a negligent discharge would be really bad, I have enough discipline and experience to draw comfortably and accurately without a problem

Just please dont be tempted to make a run to 50 with a bunch of one-liners to get access to the classifieds.

If you are in a hurry, just pony up the $20 for site supporter status and save yourself (and the mods) time. LOL

(and no, mods dont get a cut of the fee. Its just experience talking. :): )

I thought about becoming a site supporter, but this is only my second day here lol so I’m checking it out and getting a feel. I think I’ll get to 50 just by continuing to check stuff out lol

Ahh ok. You'll have to forgive me; I work in law enforcement and appendix carry usually raises a red flag for me because most people who do it don’t have the necessary training to do it properly.

If the you liked the Shield but felt it was too small for your hands, the M&P9 2.0 would make sense. It’s a solid gun and would fill out your hand a bit more. There are a LOT of options in that range though; it just depends on your budget.

My uncle has a Detroit pd m&p shield. He got it from the police auction because they had too many, and it handles nice and shoots beautifully. I was thinking one of the regular ones from a store would be a pretty nice option.

I forgot to add on the last post, but I recently purchased a Canik Elite Combat that was pretty impressive out of the box. I’ve yet to get it to the range, but it’ll replace my G19 if it operates without issue. It has, without question, the best trigger I’ve felt on a striker fired pistol. Some on this thread mentioned the Walther PDP and the Elite Combat is considered it’s primary competitor, but at a lower price point.

My buddy has that exact handgun and it truly is a beautiful piece of metal. It shot about 100-150 rounds no problem. It was a beauty but was definitely a bit pricey lol.
