Needing a “reason” for a particular gun or accessory. I don’t have to justify crap to any politician, and I shouldn’t have to justify it to fellow enthusiasts.
Sometimes I want what I want and I have what I have.

Also, stop pretending your better than anyone because your way is better than xyz. We get it you’re tacticool or old school. Wood and steel vs fantastic plastic. Get over yourselves. Love what you love and get on with it.

Also, I need a private range.
Private ranges can be over rated. Everyone wants to use yours, but when it comes time to run a brush hog so you can get there, there are no potential range uses in sight …. Let me know when all the upkeep is done so I can come by.

    The "Little Red Hen" syndrome...

    The story[edit]

A hen living on a farm finds some wheat and decides to make bread with it. She asks the other farmyard animals to help her plant it, but they refuse. The hen then harvests and mills the wheat into flour before baking it into bread; at each stage she again asks the animals for help and they refuse. Finally, with her task complete, the hen asks who will help her eat the bread. This time the animals accept eagerly, but the hen refuses them stating that no one helped her with her work and decides to eat the bread herself. She then runs away with it.

I’m looking for property hopefully next year, strictly as recreational property. I don’t care if anyone wants to use it, I want it for me.

I could see myself letting people make use of it if I trust them and liability issues get sorted. But I agree, I’m not maintaining it for other people.

On the other hand, I would be willing to help maintain a property if someone was willing to share. Heck, I actually enjoy the work.

The unhealthy fascination with newness, for instance 30 super carry

Why not just engineer some modern firearms for 38 super

Instead I'm left sifting WalletBreaker for an Astra A80 or A100 to scratch that itch

Excellent point. You want what you want, have what you have.
Everyone has a reason behind their every decision- whether they know it or not.

Love what you love and get on with it!

Indeed seclusion has its benefits. We have a 100 foot rock berm behind our range about 75 feet behind it goes a long way to mitigate liability.

Not a discussion thread…more of a venting thread. Lol.

When I see these things, it drives me nuts…well, more nuts.

Flashlights that extend past the barrel.
Rear iron sight in front of an optic.

    You?
Flashlight extending past the end of the gun is good to have if you run the muzzle into a hard object such as a wall or into the sternum of somebody (if you find yourself needing space), it reduces the chances of knocking your pistol out of battery.

Sight either behind or in front of the red dot makes no difference to me.

It makes me mad when they come out with a new gun, that I would like to have, and I ain’t got no money…
Ok, maybe that is a me problem……..
What's even worse is when they come out with a new gun that you want. And you actually have the money....but.. There Unobtainium. You can find one on GunJoker but its double MSRP. As far as just being able to go to the LGS and pick one up....Maybe in a year

To each their own, but i hate it when people make ornamental changes to defensive firearms.

Get a scrap book, get a bedazzler and a jean jacket.

Color fill, decals, novelty mag plates, etc..... if it does not make your firearm more effective, then what the hell?

A defensive firearm has a serious purpose.

On the newness subject, obsession with "this thing is 1% better than everything else therefore it's the best thing ever" hyperbolizing how great it is. Then their insistence that everyone should immediately adopt it no questions asked.

I'm all for new stuff and oddities but lets be honest it's just the novelty.

If I were building a "duty" gun, yeah, utilitarian is probably the way to go but if I'm building a personal firearm, aesthetics is absolutely part of the big picture. Function is the priority in either case. Aesthetics is the icing on the cake to me.
