My favorite store of all time is Goodwill. I spend many lunch breaks over at the local Goodwill, looking for great deals.

Today, I found a great one. At the Carmel Goodwill I found an like new, never used, Black and Decker 17" electric hedge trimmer (ht1700) for $14.99. Ace Hardware's website has similar ones for $41-46.99 :yesway:

Last year I found an almost like new 2003 Toro ccr2450 Snowthrower with electric start, that only needed a plug and gas, for $69.99 at the Westfield Goodwill. At that time the same model was selling new for $550. I used it all this winter, and it more than paid for itself clearing my neighbor's driveways. :rockwoot:

    My other good finds are:

A brand new, still in the box, $150 Canon printer / scanner for $19.99
A nice leather recliner for $25 that only needed one $0.33 bolt replaced
A $60 digital TV converter box for $5.99
A large steel filling cabinet with 3 drawers on one side and "safe" on the other for $25
Several nice Aiwa home stereo systems for around $20 each

    What have you found?

There's a Goodwill outlet store on the north west side of Indianapolis that sells clothes by the pound. I've thought about going over there to get jeans and other clothes for my wife to cut up and use for quilts. My thought would be to fill up trash bags of the clothes, and then take them straight to a laundry mat for a thorough cleaning.

I was in the New Castle Goodwill once. They had thong underwear for sale. Used.

Not long ago I got a brand new looking IRL flag for like $5 or a little less..

    I will probably sell it.

My wife likes to go and get little ceramic bear's. We got a few the other day and one was a lot more then the other's and it was about the same size, I mentioned it and they only charged me what the others cost :).

I have seen some nice well known name brand clothing there before for cheap.

Gosh, I can't begin to name off the items I've gotten at a Goodwill. I'm a huge thrift store person. A LOT of out bob items have been purchased there. You never know what you'll find at Goodwill. But I have to admit, I like privately owned thrift stores better.

When I was in Rainbow, I got most of my formal dresses from there for about $10 each.
Mom shops for clothes there for the kids. The one by us has a pretty darn good selection of kids books that I raid now and then.

I give back by donating all my "old" clothes, including some Tommy Bahama stuff I've never worn.

You think that's bad? I seen on the news recently that several big name lingerie stores (Victorias Secret, and others I can't remember) would accept returned underwear, re-tag them, and put them back in the racks, with no indication that they're used...

The clerks were secretly recorded by the news people, and they didn't even wash them, just straight to the rack.

I guess they've never heard of a 'No Returns' policy...

I worked at a Goodwill for a little over a year once. I couldnt get over the stuff people would bring in and donate.

The Goodwills in the Northern part of the state get donations from Target. Most of the time it was out of season or over stock items. Always good deals to be had.

    Some of my favorite scores:

    1. PS2 with 4 controllers, 2 memory cards- $50.00
    2. Atari 2600 with 6 joysticks and 20 games (and it worked) - $10.00
    3. WWII USMC Officers Jacket (with patches and ribbons still attached)

I've never been in a Goodwill before...I've always left that store alone for people who truly need it.

(BTW, I'm very far from rich)

Don't you hear the commercials? When you buy from Good Will, they use the money to help the people who truly need it. Whether you're buying or donating, you're helping.

I guess I missed those...Probably because I change the channel during commercials.

    Anyway, fair enough.:D

    Goodwill Outlet ROCKS :rockwoot:

I got my get home bag -- a decent-sized North Face pack that will hold a hydration bladder -- for $1.59/lb.

The best part is, the more you buy, the cheaper the per-pound price.

Also found two pair of jeans in my hard-to-find size there, along with numerous BDU pieces, canteens, sleeping bags, and even an old-style military pistol belt.

Also an awesome place for books.

Before the outlet existed, I got a set of 200cm Atomic skis with Salomon bindings for $8.00 at the local store.
