Snow varies a lot in how densely it packs so the ratio varies as well. I'm sure we have all experienced real fluffy light snow as well as heavy wet snow.
That was the year I went and bought a 2 stage snowthrower. Had the cash and was doing it for exercise. Pulled my back, chucked my shovel, drove to Sears and loaded up the machine. Never looked back.

One of my younger neighbors used to shovel his driveway all the time for the exercise. Then one time we had about 1 1/2 feet of heavy snow and I went over to help him with my big snowblower and got it done pretty quick while he basically stayed out of my way. Within a couple days he had his own snowblower.

That sounds close. I have also heard 1”rain = 12” of snow. Maybe depends if you are N of 30 or not!
Depends on the temperature of the air and humidity. Wet snow, which occurs at higher temps, can be closer to 1" rain = 3 or 4" of snow. Dry snow, occurring at low temps and low humidity, 1" rain = 10 to 12" of snow.

I have a 2 stage blower on the 3pt point hitch of my tractor. 7000# of diesel powered snow blowing.

    That sounds great!
My son is looking at getting one. How would you compare a 3pt hitch mount blower vs a front mount blower?
Does he have a front PTO?

I would expect them to be similar, except for the direction you have to drive. :):

I just stick to the bucket for my drive. I always found something better to spend that money on.

If we got feets and feets and snow like we used to prior to global warming I'd say a blower is good cause you can only push so much snow...

But since we get almost nothing nowadays a blade is good enough

Typically more power on a 3pt blower. Front blowers for garden tractors are great and smaller compact utility tractors, but typically are specifically built for a model of machine. The 3pt blowers can be used on larger utility tractors, typically start about 5' wide, I've seen them as wide as 10'. Mine is 6' wide about 5' tall.

Let's see those blades with this stuff. This was my former neighbors truck that he blew the transmission on while plowing his drive.

He got a 50Hp tractor with a cab and a front PTO snow blower after that.
