You still have to know what time it is there. Is it any harder to know what UTC time their workday is? Really though, technology can mitigate either problem. Time zones, or universal time. So might as well reduce the complexity and get rid of time zones. Whenever society is ready for that. Probably not in my lifetime. But eventually.
Maybe once there is a true Global government and we've gone beyond our little rock.

I don't think a true global government is inevitable or even ever necessary. But if we had one, given the diversity of the world, it needs to be more like a federation of nations with a weak central government. So not like the EU.

Right, no time zones, but as IngoMike has been pointing out, it was "too confusing" when Indiana was on EST and other states were on DST to schedule meetings, watch television, etc.. How does UTC address that? I don't think it does.
Part of the state still deals with this year round. In the past, the northwestern counties that were on DST when others were not only had to deal with it half of the year. The other counties around us didn't change time so there was half the year that we were on the same time zone.

I live in CST and work in EST. I have to put CST or EST behind every time I set in my calendar for appointments or I can't remember if it was my time or their time when it is finally time to go to that appointment. I leave for work at 5:45 to get to work at 7:15 but I leave work at 5:30 and get home at 5:00. Makes perfect sense to me. We have so many missed appointments at our office (dental) because people forgot about the time difference so there we are with an unproductive hour or more and a patient that has to reschedule in an already very full calendar.

I found lots, as Act already posted. I found ZERO in favor of changing clocks. So if it is so popular an idea, I figured they would be able to find polls to support their statements. I guess not though.
Polls like this tend to find what they are paid to find. If one polls in the lead up or immediate aftermath they will get a negative response. If one polls when folks are enjoying that sunshine after work they will get a different response…

The edges of time zones are a pain no matter how it is sliced. Better when no major city is involved. So basically for the convenience those that work in Chicago those that never leave the state are inconvenienced?

Looks more like the rest of the state that is out of whack

Right. That is quite the spin.
I know of no organizations currently that promote DST time changes, it is already law. There are hundreds of little groups that oppose DST time changes for various reasons. This seems logical to me, one has it the other is fighting to get it.

Premiere time zone, secondary time zone

Location, location, location. Do you not believe in location? Do you find it preposterous that when business is relocating headquarters they want to on the same time as the money of the major banks and stock market and the power of DC.

There was a post that tried to make a point about Daniels claim about attracting jobs. It says more about the posters knowledge than the predictions, which look at all the corporate headquarters that have landed in central Indiana, particularly Carmel and fishers since the change to DST…

It makes economic sense to me for Indiana to be on the same time as NY markets in a premiere time zone that is recognized worldwide, vs. a secondary time zone like the central zone…
OMG! That is where AOC lives! Let's just call it the AOC zone!

We need a true global government to truly sort out this whole clock thing for us.
