Well… short vacation at Great Wolf lodge. They had an evening dance party just for the kids. My daughter was really excited about it! The dancer comes out and it’s a dude… tall skinny dude… long hair in curls and dressed in a skin tight shimmering pink cowgirl costume. I look over at my daughter and she is mortified and frozen. Everyone else is just happily going along with it. I went over to my daughter and quietly asked her if she wanted to leave and she said yes so we left. I would have left anyway but wanted to hear her feelings.

I will not normalize this culture to my kids. And if something makes my daughter feel uncomfortable, I want her to know that listening to those feelings is ok.

Really, really disappointed and upset about that tonight. It’s literally everywhere.
