Both sides use similar equipment and uniforms. The yellow and sometimes blue tape or cloth is to prevent friendly fire incidents. The Russians do the same but use red or white. Kind of defeats the purpose of camouflage doesn’t it?

They also need to spread the heck out. A bunched up group like that makes a great target.

I'm not a vet, but that sure seems like a mess over there, right?

Is that what our billions are paying for?

Basic camouflage doesn't make you invisible, it just makes you somewhat blend in with your surroundings and a bit harder to draw a bead on. We're not talking about ghillie suits here.

Camouflage is more effective at longer ranges, but it loses it's effectiveness the closer you get. Markers that make Soldiers more easily identifiable are nothing new. Look at the differences in uniforms between opposing forces throughout history. It's a common tactic.

I'd rather be easily identifiable as friendly or threat at closer ranges than take incoming friendly fire. It's not like a small colored band is going to give you away within rifle range.

No our billions are used to feed the military complex.

This nonsense will continue as long as American tacpayers tolerate the plunder.
It's really a perfect storm of a war, isn't it? Two bad guys, but since one of them is Russia, it's so easy to gin up support for the other, regardless of the fact that they are just as much of a den of snakes as Russia.

It's a war that no one would care about if it was any other of Ukraine's neighbor's attacking them.

I think I’ve mentioned before that during the Panama invasion we wore white IR reflective tape to be visible from friendly aircraft at night. Nothing can ruin your day like being lit up by an AC-130 gunship by accident.

I imagine that running around without that IR tape would be non-habit-forming behavior.

Boris: I see our blue-helmet forces have taken a town, Yuri.

Yuri: Not to be confused with the United Nations blue helmets, everyone shoots at them and their white sport utility vehicles with giant UN letters.

Boris: I think UN is Italian for SHOOT ME!!

Yuri: Good one Boris! I must ask, whose burner phone did they use to take picture? This is terrible picture.

Boris: You do not kid, Yuri. That one guy on the right looks like an X-Ray.

    Yuri: I think that's Skeletor.

Boris: Skeletor? What the hell is a Skeletor?

Yuri: Main antagonist from animated series in late-Brezhnev era. Protagonist was He-Man.

Boris: He-Man? That seems redundant. And Skeletor's helmet is trying to be Ghillie Suit.

Yuri: He may be from 40 year old animated series, but his rifle has uber-cool optic.

    Boris: Most impressive!
