I think Russia doesn't have the will of their soldiers to want to fight...you got to have that. I don't think Russia believed a full offensive was going to happen. They would hold ground until winter, then start a winter offensive with fresh troops on frozen ground. That was a big mistake by Putin when they started the war with only a couple weeks of hard ground left, they did well and thought it would all be over in that 2 weeks....nope and then the land thawed and that bogs down everything. Advantage Ukraine. Winter is coming and Russia may throw down again...but they will be starting pretty much all over again if Ukraine keeps taking territory back. Putin if he had been smart would of started this war when winter got started not when spring was. So we are not dealing with a smart man, who knows what he will do next. He might be dying from VD and do all kinds of crazy stuff. Its happened before.

His engine quit....and he forgot to fly the plane...he had enough speed to level but instead kept banking until he stalled it. That was not a good pilot. Been actually a bunch of this on small planes in the US...just bad pilots that forget the 1st rule of flying...fly the plane...they get caught up instead on trying to bring it back for a landing....and die.

The amazing thing is. Even though it was a feint made to draw the forces away, the announced southern offensive in Kherson is making headway as well.

In fact they are making gains on all fronts, some more then others.

Ukraine has taken control of this war in many ways. It will likely stretch into 2023.. but if we want to see a completely humiliated Russia. Keep those beans and bullets headed that way

I am absolutely amazed at this point @BigRed hasn't received a payment from one of the oligarchs. Why would you continue to let your military be destroyed and humiliated?
Putin is a narcissist. Just like Hitler, he in fact hates his own people. He and only he is a god, everyone else don’t matter. They didn’t get the job done in 2 weeks so off with their heads.

Putin has time on his side, don't misread anything. If he unleashes the Russian Air Force, things could change rather quickly. Just saying.
Although it's heartening to see Ukrainians making gains, I suspect you may be correct. Russia doesn't have to win the battle. They just have to maintain the capability to press the war. What they really want to destroy is Ukraine's future. Everyone with money and education probably already left the place. Most of what's left in Ukraine is probably poor people, soldiers, and politicians. I other words, precisely the kinds of people every sh!t-hole country already has tons of.

A wacked-out neighbor willing and prepared to do stupid things makes a country radioactive for foreign investment. Nobody will invest capital there with the constant Russian threat looming over the place. A free, but destroyed and impoverished, Ukraine where nobody will invest = a long-term Russian victory. A country where nobody will invest, is a country not worth admitting to NATO, because there's no western capitalist property to protect there.

What the powers-that-be want, in both the East and West, is a non-nuclear buffer zone between Russia and the rest of the world; an impoverished, flattened Ukraine reduced to a giant subsistence-farming zone, not worth investing in, and therefore, not worth admitting to NATO and risking wider war over.

The people who are watching this like some kind of "Braveheart" movie fail to grasp that every day Ukrainian national assets continue to be destroyed, brings the goal outlined above one step closer. It doesn't matter which direction the tide shifts, as long as the destruction continues. Friction works both directions.

Putin will die, someone else will take over and blame all the problems on him, while inheriting the gift of the diminished Ukraine they wanted all along.

Meanwhile China sits back, watches, and continues to take over the world peacefully with soft financial power, financing this whole mess while western nations flood with refugees and further bankrupt themselves pouring good money after bad.

"In a war of attrition, the fat guy wins."

I've been wrong before and hope I am on this.

Haha! Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the 2022 Russian Air Show!
It's ironic you said that, because I've never even seen an air show that would allow two planes to pull a takeoff turn in formation at low altitude like that. They'd want you to climb out together to 1,000 feet before even moving the stick.

He touched on almost all the useless things:

    * Runway behind you (check)

    * Altitude above you (tons of it - check)

    * Fuel you left on the ground (well - he sort of checked that one, too)

How many attempts did Hitler have by his own? Probably a good thing since he was a military idiot. Next guy might be worse than Putin, most likely a disgruntled Russian general that wants to take over.

Most serious plots against him were abandoned, when it was realized he did more harm to the enemy alive, then dead.

I don't know if I would put Putin in that category, but they haven't done a very good job for a suposed "superpower"
