Okay. That you agree "infinite" genders is stupid, I think is encouraging.Yes, I think the "infinite" genders thing is stupid. Are you saying the right aren't actually passing anti-trans laws?
I would not classify the laws that the right is passing as "anti-trans". You used some hyperbolic language to characterizing what you think that the right is doing. I think you should consider the possibility that you're hearing about this from an ideologically biased point of view.
For example, the law that is reported as the "don't say gay" bill doesn't do any such thing. It requires age appropriate curriculum. It's not anti-gay or anti-trans. It's anti insane.
Some are passing laws that limit what medical interventions they can do for certain ages. Because these drugs they're using as puberty blockers weren't designed for that, and they need a lot more studies to ensure safety. A lot of kids are ending up in situations where they can't transition to either sex because of what these do to the body.
From the perspective of the right, the laws are there to protect children from activists.
Yeah, I get that this is about actual trans people. But I think it's also about people who are confused and too young to resolve what they are. I've seen peer reviewed studies that show many people who think they're trans at a young age, by the time they're adults, they settle on that they're just gay and are fine with their sex. This is about actual trans people. The rest is just a bunch of noise being made by political radicals who have reduced American political discourse to my team vs your team. I call in the footballization of politics.
So let's make sure they truly have gender dysphoria before we start altering their physiology with pharmaceuticals. At 10 or 11 years old, I think that's too young to make a life altering decision like that. You call the people who write these laws as political radicals. I think most people call them sane. I really think you should look at other sources of information and find out what they actually think.
This is an example of biased news. They characterize this as a ban on medical care for transgender youth. Its not. It prohibits gender affirming medical interventions. So that's not the same thing. You've used language like "killing trans" and such. I mean that's one of the reasons I have a hard time believing that you're discussing this in good faith. I'm still engaging with you because it's also possible that you just believe the hyperbolic language they're using to characterize the right. An example of blocking health care - Alabama leading the way in oppression: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/04/07/us/alabama-transgender-youth-bill.html
Also, sex and gender are not as clear cut as the radical right want you to believe.
I don't get my view of sex and gender from the right.
Sex is as clear cut as it could possibly be. With the exception of intersex, every person born is either a male or female. Science has established and confirmed that though centuries of inquiry. A man is an adult male. A woman is an adult female. The only in between is intersex. But, some people, for whatever reasons, have a hard time integrating their physical sexuality with who they think they are.
Gender, like I said is a spectrum of masculine to feminine. It is related to sex in that almost all males fall more or less on the masculine side of the gender spectrum, and almost all females fall more or less on the feminine side of things. But not all effeminate males are gay or trans. Not all tomboys are lesbians or trans. I don't have the data on effeminate males and sexual identity, but with tomboys, most are straight cis. They just like cool stuff instead of barbie dolls.
