Yes, I think the "infinite" genders thing is stupid. Are you saying the right aren't actually passing anti-trans laws? This is about actual trans people. The rest is just a bunch of noise being made by political radicals who have reduced American political discourse to my team vs your team. I call in the footballization of politics.

An example of blocking health care - Alabama leading the way in oppression: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/04/07/us/alabama-transgender-youth-bill.html

Also, sex and gender are not as clear cut as the radical right want you to believe.

Couldn't find something not behind a pay wall...

Let's look at those laws. One blocks medical intervention of puberty. The other forces children up to the 5th grade use the bathroom that matches their biology.

The first law may be overbroad but I'm only going off the summary from another news article. After hearing the horror stories involving detransitioners, and the quickness with which they are put on the path of medical intervention.

I think medical intervention MUST ONLY follow intensive PSYCHOLOGICAL intervention in children. That is supposed to be the standard of care from what I've read.

We also don't know the long term effect of these interventions on people.

Ivey signed SB 184, sponsored by Sen. Shay Shelnutt, R-Trussville, which would subject doctors to 10 years in prison for providing puberty blockers and hormones to transgender youth.

Ivey also signed HB 322, sponsored by Rep. Scott Stadthagen, R-Hartselle, which forces transgender children to use bathrooms of their birth sex and bans discussions of “sexual orientation or gender identity" in kindergarten through fifth grade that is “not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate.”

Someone wanted an example and I gave them one, there are plenty more. I didn't aim to post an exhaustive list, examples are easy to find on the internet.

Of course you should make sure children are actually transgender before doing anything. It's not like they're giving 4 year olds estrogen. For "children" they most commonly use puberty blockers to delay the changes to their bodies so they can take the time to be sure. It is a myth that these drugs have never been given to children. They exist because they are used in non-trans kids who have pernicious (early onset) puberty.

I'm not ok with preventing trans kids from getting help because of transphobic people that think this is some "gol' dang librul bullsh....". The reality is that more trans kids are harmed by ignorance and bigotry than the other way around . But again we need to be very careful because if you are wrong in either direction it can mess up somone's life.

Are any two women even mentally identical to each other. I fail to see your point. Classification as one or the other (there are only two) is inextricably bound up in the genotype

You can be a woman who believes she is a man, but that is a matter for psychiatry not taxonomy
    You dodged the question.

The several trans-gendered people I've met had a host of problems along with gender dysphoria (if they even had that.) They never sought treatment for those other problems, under the mistaken belief that "changing" their body medically is a cure all. I've also talked to several questioning youth and the reasons they give seem shallow to me.

“I was failed by the system. I literally lost organs.”

When Chloe was 12 years old, she decided she was transgender. At 13, she came out to her parents. That same year, she was put on puberty blockers and prescribed testosterone. At 15, she underwent a double mastectomy. Less than a year later, she realized she’d made a mistake — all by the time she was 16 years old.

    ...

In recent years, the number of children experiencing gender dysphoria in the West has skyrocketed. Exact figures are difficult to come by, but, between 2009 and 2019, children being referred for transitioning treatment in the United Kingdom increased 1,000% among biological males and 4,400% among biological females. Meanwhile, the number of young people identifying as transgender in the US has almost doubled since 2017, according to a new Centers for Disease Control & Prevention report.

Historically, transitioning from male to female was vastly more common, with this cohort typically experiencing persistent gender dysphoria from a very young age. Recently, however, the status quo has reversed, and female-to-male transitions have become the overwhelming majority.

Dr. Lisa Littman, a former professor of Behavioral and Social Sciences at Brown University, coined the term “rapid onset gender dysphoria” to describe this subset of transgender youth, typically biological females who become suddenly dysphoric during or shortly after puberty. Littman believes this may be due to adolescent girls’ susceptibility to peer influence on social media.

The cartoons introduce four rows labeled “sex assigned at birth”, “gender identity”, “gender expression” and “sexual preference.” Children are asked to put an X anywhere along the four continuums to indicate where they fall in all these apparently separate realms.

“That’s Grade 7,” said Peterson. “That’s basically targeted to junior high and above. And so you see, it’s inculcating a particular kind of philosophy of identity.”

The author of the bestselling book 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos explained that there are problems with this “doctrine.”

“The first problem is that the evidence that there are biological differences between men and women is overwhelming,” Peterson said.

“The vast majority of people who have a biological sex also claim that they are psychologically … the same as that biological sex,” the psychologist continued. “So the idea that they are independent is completely insane.”

Even though there are men who are more feminine than other men, and women who are more feminine than other women, feminine men tend to identify as men, and masculine women as women, he noted.

Another problem with making divisions between biological sex, “gender,” “gender expression,” and sexual orientation is that it makes its adherents’ other ideas completely illogical. Peterson used bans on conversion therapy as his example.

“The LGBT lobby is dead set against anything that smacks of conversion therapy, the idea that you could convert someone who has a primarily homosexual identity to someone who has a primarily heterosexual [identity],” he told Trussell. “It’s illegal in Ontario and in many [American] states now to even attempt that. But if there’s complete independence between the biology, the identity, the expression and the sexual preference, then there’s no reason to assume that it can’t be changed.”

Bolstering his argument, Peterson mentioned the ultimate conclusion of gender ideology, namely that gender is totally fluid. Some activists teach that a person can be a man one day and a woman the next, or even change sexual identity from minute to minute.

“If it’s that fluid, and it’s only dependent on subjective choice, which is what the legislation now insists, then why can’t that argument be used by conservatives to say exactly the same thing about sexual preference?”

Well, whatever they want to call themselves doesn't make any of them special or do they deserve special laws and treatment from other people. They chose to be the way they are. I'll be me, they can be them. I won't push myself on them, they don't need to push themselves on me.

They didn't chose it and they don't want special treatment. Or are you saying you could have been gay but you chose to be straight?

They don't want special treatment? So a person who is biologically male isn't wanting special treatment to compete against those who are biologically female? Or use facilities designated for those who are biologically female? Or in reverse it's not special treatment for a biological female to receive testosterone and compete against biological males for whom it's banned as a performance enhancing substance?

Is it asking for special treatment to attempt to force a person to go against their deeply held religious beliefs about seeing the genitalia of the opposite sex outside a wedded partner and have them wax said genitalia? But it's not a male beans and franks, it's a female beans and franks so you have to do it or you're discriminating against me.

There’s no such thing as a gender-affirming therapist. It’s a contradiction in terms. Because you don’t affirm if you’re a therapist. It’s not your business to affirm. You come to see me because there’s something wrong. … Am I going to affirm what you think? No, it’s not up to me to affirm it. You don’t get a casual pat on the back from a therapist for your pre-existing axiomatic conclusions. That’s not therapy; that’s a rubber stamp.

This Backgrounder reviews existing research on the relationship between cross-sex interventions and suicide, and then presents a new empirical analysis that examines whether easing access by adolescents to these interventions is likely to result in fewer adolescent suicides. The new analysis presented here finds that the existing literature on this topic suffers from a series of weaknesses that prevent researchers from being able to draw credible causal conclusions about a relationship between medical interventions and suicide. Using a superior research design, the new analysis finds that increasing minors’ access to cross-sex interventions is associated with a significant increase in the adolescent suicide rate. Rather than facilitating access by minors to these medical interventions without parental consent, states should be pursuing policies that strengthen parental involvement in these important decisions with life-long implications for their children.

God made folks male and female.

Do folks have mental health disorders? You betcha!

Let’s treat the mentally ill, not promote it from the rafters as a positive.

Now we let them teach our children, run corporations that target children, and, you know, run the country.

As in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Jesus said He would come back when it got this bad.

    Just saying.

What did god say about how to treat your slaves or when to stone non-virgin women to death, or killing disrespectful children? Speaking of things god made, which verse explains why created childhood cancer?

Pretty sure my God said to love your neighbor as yourself.

He also gave his people rules to deal with the subject of slavery and servitude with mercy and respect over 3000 years ago.

    Pretty progressive.

He definitely did not think rebellious or promiscuous teenagers were good for society.

Also how they were to treat and honor their parents.

Also abour taking the Lord’s name in vain.

I remember when my son was around his uncle all day and took the Lord’s
Name in vain. Took him to the Old Testament chapter and verse on the punishment.

He was glad to learn we live in the age of Grace since Jesus ascension (possibly at the Upper Room) but either way, glad to live nowadays.

God didn’t want to create us as robots. Gave us a free will to choose sin or righteousness.

    Our first Forefather chose poorly.

Now we have to deal with sin and it’s consequences (death and disease).

The god you speak of is some false god you’ve created in your imagination.

It’s not the loving sacrificing God of the Bible.

Sounds like you are picking and choosing to suit your need. My first sentence was right out of the bible. How loving is a god that created cancer, and lets children die of it. Where is the mercy in rape, torture and murder? Is he unwilling to stop it, or unable?
