I figured it must have been one hell of a meth lab until I heard it was Crane.

So they can just go blowing **** up enough to shake the ground for several counties around and not explain anything to anyone? Why don’t they conduct this type of testing in more remote areas? Or better yet, in places where we actually want to destroy ****?

I thought the article above said they were doing demolition (buildings?) not testing weapons... :dunno:

My wife heard the boom here in New Whiteland and asked me if I heard thunder. I checked the radar and told hear there wasn't any storm showing nearby. I was mowing the yard so didn't hear it myself. Must have been a heck of a blast to be heard here.

Not quite. "Mark Dobbs, community planning liaison with Naval Support Activity Crane in Martin County, said the base conducted demolition operations Wednesday morning and afternoon, and that the afternoon operations took place between 1 and 1:30 p.m. Dobbs could not comment on what the operations were or if it was what people reported to hear."

Maybe they were testing something designed to demolish buildings, that are built far underground...

ETA I don't work there, I know nobody that works there, please please don't send the black helicopters if I was right...

    Uh huh. "Building demolition". LOL

"building demolition" that can be heard several counties away. LOL

    Wacky Navy guys.

Listen folks: We all know (or should know) that there are some incredibly high speed/low drag cutting edge stuff that goes on at Crane. Stuff that even the likes of many civilian contractors wouldn't know about unless they were specifically involved with...and still couldn't let it slip.

So - we'll take the PR guy's word with a grain of salt and carry on knowing that some of the literal best-in-the-world minds at this kind of thing are working on some of the literal best-in-the-world kinds of things.

I didn't see where it said they were doing a Building Demolition.

Demolition in military terms can be many different explosive, used for demolishing many things, not just a building. Definitely not in the same manner as a controlled demolition.

Small update from a source that works @ Crane:

There was a semi-regular / normal detonation yesterday afternoon. But it wasn't anything special.

Certainly not the type of thing that would've been felt over several counties.

Other possability: meteor explosion in the lower atmosphere.
