I can swing that kind of pricing. Sure it's higher than the $0.03 I was paying but in the grand scheme of things it makes my rounds go from $0.11 to $0.15, give or take.

I can still afford the hobby at that rate as it's only about $20 per range visit. What else can you do for $20 on a weekend?

It's when it's looking more like $60/visit where I get heartburn.
That is what is killing trap clubs. 4 boxes of shells at $15-$20 each when you find them, $20 target fee. That is burning a Benjamin even before you go out for a sandwich with your friends afterwards. This is the first time I have seen ALL ammo and ALL reloading components in short supply. Now that a 10 box flat of shells is bringing $150, I saw an ad offering financing terms for a pre order.

Something is happening here, what it is ain't exactly clear.

I started looking into reloading for trap shooting, with the initial cost of just components at this time, i can still buy factory loads cheaper than reloading myself, I have recently bought 2 used presses as price was right, Was at a couple local stores yesterday and shot shells were around 10 bucks a box with tax, couple brands i was unfamiliar with though, I still have several cases of gun club but they wont last another year if i continue shooting along with my son another year?? Lead shot and primers are the killer on reloading and powder has went up a lot. considered getting a shotmaker but ue to price and the cost of lead lately it is hard to justify the cost, if i could find cheap lead i would consider it!!

You know these high prices on ammunition and primers may be the new normal.

    Some voted for this.
I'm hoping not. I can accept increases commensurate with inflation and companies having to increase wages, but 3-4X the not to distant past is too much for me to accept.

Of course if demand never drops, then I expect prices to remain where they are.

I am okay for 2022. I'll wait and see how the market shakes out. I really don't want to pay over $500 for primers that I won't need until '23 only to see them come back down to earth this fall.

Just got this in an email from Lohman Arms.

About 11 cents each before hazmat, shipping and tax. Have no idea if that would end up being a decent deal these days or not.

So not horrible by today's standards?
I suppose not but I just can't do it, lol. When I bought 5K for $150 last January, the prices have to get at least closer to that for me. I might be willing to go double last years price, but no more. And right now, since I'm good, I wouldn't even do that. :)

The fact that they are still there and would allow me to buy so many is a promising sign!

Cartridge prices are coming down and are more and more available. Primers will follow, as they always have.

In Palmetto's add today, along with .223 and .308...

Bass pro shop in Portage has primers this morning
What did they have? Last time I saw primers out that way was last year. I've had better luck at Hammond Cabela's, you'd think it would be the other way around. But they are the same company now so who knows how stock is divided up
