We all knew this anyway. We are at or just past the tipping point.

I'm actually surprised the article makes no mention of anyone stepping forward... And capturing it all with their camera phone to post online! THAT'S really where we are as a society unfortunately. But I agree with churchmouse that fear of legal action is likely what most people are thinking nowadays that prevents them from getting involved. When black is called white and up is called down and right is called wrong, doing the right thing is now potentially deemed a crime so people simply do nothing out of fear.

Yeah I'm pretty convinced it's something spiritual.

Laws alone don't stop people from doing what is right. But decades of living in a soul crushing atmosphere remove all the natural human instincts and turns people into robots.

This is why china is always showing up in gore videos, and nobody does anything to help anyone else. 60 years of a communist government telling them to not think for themselves just straight up took the souls out of their bodies.

Meanwhile, to their east in Taiwan, it's all the same ethnic group, yet they behave normally.

ETA: In a discussion regarding the use of a garotte, some could not understand its role as a defensive tool.

I will submit this event provides a possible scenario. A bystander wrapping a piece of piano wire around this ******'s neck and putting a halt to a rape would be an example of a garotte being used as a defensive tool.

Yeah, but so would a knife in the kidneys. This doesn't seem to be a weapons issue.

The issue is evil in the heart of man.

I was simply noting that a garotte can be used in defensive matters.

On that train, a kick to the head of the mother ****** could have been used as a defense....not a single soul willing to so.

This situation is also a good reminder that when push comes to shove, you and you alone are the only first responder.

People have cowered in fear during violent events for years and years. An entire plane full of people allowed a few little knife wielding dip ****s to fly the planes into buildings. Only one group of people in the 3 planes did a ****ing thing. And they did it. All the way.
But those sorry asses in the other 2 are no better or even worse than those on that train.

Unfortunately, the bystander effect is not new. Kitty Genovese in the mid-1960s immediately comes to mind. I think cell phones have made it worse. Everyone assumes somebody else will do something because we all have phones to call 911. Or they’re filming for social media.
