@SpyderByte - every deal here on INGO is subject to the whims of the seller. In a world with so many scams going on each seller does what makes them comfortable to filter those out.

A lot of the users here continue to defend the idea that even though the site title puts the classifieds first it is a community first. It's is a community, but it in the sense that we are standing on the porch of the store BSing. There is still a business being run.

This. Functionally speaking, INGO a discussion forum first, and the classifieds are just a perk of the site. If youre* just here for the classifieds, you are on the wrong site, IMHO. And many use those discussions to help vet the other half of the transaction. If we wanted to just blindly buy/sell to the first person to respond, we'd go to places like ebay and gunbroker.

I get that, but I'll bet the more than half the people that visit INGO are lurkers and don't feel like they have much to provide...not to mention all of the rhetoric and condemnation and "fights" that occur (on so many forums) when somebody does decide to post. I simply don't have a lot to provide IMHO, so I have been a lurker for sure. In my opinion the selling feature is sub-par anyway, and therefore only recently used it...but probably won't anymore and stick with lurking.

I get that some sellers are hesitant, but when a potential buyer provides a full name and phone number that is easily verifiable as a legit business number, that should ease the mind...especially when it is offered to do a full paperwork transfer as a buyer or seller. I think the knee jerk reaction to a "lowly person" on INGO is a condemnation in and of itself. As I mentioned to someone else, the classifieds is a sub-par function anyway, so I'll probably stick to my years of lurking instead. Again, just my two cents on the process...

As I've commented elsewhere, that is just about stupid...I don't really have a lot to say on the forums but I read and have read them for years and only recently started to sell...even paid the membership too and have made a couple purchases as well. I guess this just forces people to stay on the other site instead.
So if it’s thAt. stupid just stay out of the classified. This is not gun broker and you had something to say here.
don’t be a sour grape. We have rules. Most of us like them if you don’t then that’s your opinion. I see you are now a site supporter good on you sir.
It does not matter length of time but we do this for good reasons. And it works. Enjoy.

I get that but I am also a paid member so that rating is basically creating a discrimination thing. If that's the way sellers want to think of it then I probably need to forget about classifieds on this forum and only the other forum aspects.
Nobody is telling you Not to use the classifieds, you paid for the ability to use them so by all means use them.
I'm just saying to use them with the understanding that some people will not feel comfortable dealing with a low post count member who only uses the classifieds. It is the seller's right to decide who to sell to, not yours.

Don't let one member ruin your experience. I skip past ads that say they'll only deal with members with x amount of posts, site supporter status, or be born under a harvest moon. Even if I meet all their arbitrary benchmarks, they can find someone else.

I've met lots of great people from this site and have passed up on things I wanted because I didn't want to meet that particular user face to face based on their ad or post history.

I agree with that but not responding is pretty bush league. And if the guy isn't a regular user and not online to answer questions, maybe he shouldn't be selling something here.

And.....as I said it would not be the 1st time that life has altered someone's course. Just saying.

We all have our standards and adhere to them mostly. I will not show my LTCH to make a private sale purchase. Not sure why but that stipulation irritates me. And hence the reasons we have the rules. Getting to know a member makes it easier to deal with them. If you do not trust a member enough not to ask for a sperm sample then you either are not active and know them ETC. If you have no idea who I am or how to find me then you are not an active member. Thats why we have the rules.

Yeah I agree. I would respond unless I had something in the ad about not selling to low post count or low-ball offers. As for the not being online, sometimes :poop:happens in this crazy thing called life.

I know a lot of people and some of them well. I'm not asking anyone for a sperm sample.
