The answer to this question, though very delayed, is now. The magazine shortage starts now post these two 'mass' shootings. I'm already starting to see magazine availability dry up online.

I wonder what "drying up" really is though?

Doesn't anyone who has had a rifle or two more than a year or so have buckets of mags laying around?

I’ve slowed down on mag purchases now that I’ve filled a few crates with them. It doesn’t look like these are going to be scarce any time soon though.

My guess is new buyers aren’t stacking them because they don’t realize the value or have never been through a shortage or ban.

It also seems like manufacturers pumped out so many trying to capitalize on the fear buying that the market is saturated. Anything can change though, so if you can, buy more than enough now.

I'm probably light on mags overall. I have never had a mag fail or wear out though. I have my dad's Weatherby 22 from the sixties and even those mags are good to go. Though I wouldn't mind replacing the springs.

I could use a few more on guns I may use for matches. I have five for my Ruger mkii, which is adequate, but some more would be nice.

I suppose I'll take another look and see what I could use.

I bought a couple of 10 round mags for each of my carry weapons, on the off chance I would need to limit capacity while a restriction made its way through the courts. It was actually possible to pick them up pretty cheap since I was in no hurry

Bugl02- Although it kinda sucks. That’s not a bad idea to pick up some 10rd mags. Who knows what we’ll have to deal with in the interim of a ban.

I'll buy them if forced to and not until then. That said I do have a few 10rd mags for target and hunting purposes only.

I wanted to have a couple because we're 'duty to disclose' and most any interaction the officer knows you are licensed and you have to tell him if you're actually carrying

Most officers are cool and will actually ask 'why not' if you tell them you're not carrying. On the off chance, given what's occupying the WH, that we might at some time be subject to a capacity limit while awaiting a hearing on a court challenge, I thought I would get a couple while they are still cheap and undesirable in free states

I was kind of wondering if some handgun mag equivalent of a duck plug might be an option, but would rather have an unmodified mag designed to work in the weapon

Me too. They should. They have allowed duck plugs forever. And we all know how easy those are to remove.

IIRC they had something like that for AR mags in Commiefornia. It was an extra long follower that wouldn't allow more than x number of rounds be loaded. Here are some.

Thats good planning before the "I told you so"hits. I did a similar decision, and you re right about pricing being fair to good. Good range mags if the POTUS doesn't mess up all magazines.

Obama has stock in Ruger, Smith &Wesson, and Federal cartridge company. I know If he has his puppet yell gun control and ammunition control both get sold at an astounding rate along with magazine's to feed them. Obama and everyone else with the above stocks makes a fortune.

Will they actually do it and cause their Marxist Messiah to lose money? Selling to police or military isn't as lucrative as selling to the American public.
