So Laird's law really isn't needed then.
The immediate detention statute has to do with taking people into custody. Laird's law has to do with the confiscation of firearms. Two different birds, although they can fly together depending on the situation, I suppose.

I didn't say he wasn't. I said that the law regarding immediate detention of mentally ill individuals predates Laird by at least a decade. It has nothing to do with Jake Laird.
You are correct, there is a period in there. But this does have a lot to do with the Jake Laird law, the one the Marion County Prosecutor refused to pursue in this case. The changes made in 2019 made it to where (I won't type the POS's name) would've been a hard NO in NICS. Prior to that, this was not the case.

1992? I was stationed in Florida and the ROK. I don't know what was what back then. I do know what was discussed in the hearing for the changes to IC35-47-14 in 2019, because I was there.

Ah, the ROK. Number 1 GI in Itaewon, real Nikes $10. Good times. :)

As “real” in looks, but not so much in quality. Kinda like those royal blue satin coats with “Korea” on the back that lasted 6 months.
Well, now I have to look for mine. It's around here somewhere. Probably still wearable, except for being about 4 sizes too small now, for some reason. Shrunk just like my Class A's. Weird.

Once saw a red Lakers jersey in Songtan City. I got my Rollecks watch just up the street. Starter jackets were the rage then. From a bar at the corner of Aragon Alley you could see where they sewed them.

FOP fires back at Marion County prosecutor over handling of red flag law and FedEx mass shooter | 'Where was his courage to apply the law?'

    Mears needs to go...

    From Fox 59:
“The system didn’t fail, instead Prosecutor Mears failed to give the system the chance to work,” said Indy FOP president Rick Snyder.

Edit: Just heard on the TV: Mears is playing BS politics as suspected. Standard playbook: don't do your job, complain about the law you didn't apply, get more control by passing more laws.

And again here in is the true problem. These politically aspiring prosecutors with no balls.
Did we get Hognutts from this process...????

Anyone who knows anything about Sikh culture and history knows that this stance is a complete repudiation of both Sikh culture and history.

Also, this is a rhetorical question, but: why are they pushing for universal UBC, when the shooter passed a BGC to purchase his firearms?
    Stupidity

Sorry...I`m so locked onto the insidious nature of being able to take someone and their things without Due Process.
I am referring to (and maybe this was not the best example to quote) the weenie ass system in Marion and sooooo many other counties. These douche water sucking nimrods have sooooo many tools to use in the battle against evil and fail to use them. In the front and out the back door. Then blame budgets when it is more politically driven than that.

    The system is wrecked.
