870 Police and 590A1s commonly for $1000+ now on Gunbroker.

I always viewed pump shotguns as "safe" in terms of being one of the last things threatened by possible legislation.

What has caused shotguns to soar in price? I know everything is up somewhat, but the examples above are double almost triple priced.

I acknowledge these may be asking prices, not getting prices. I need to check Gunbuyer etc to see if the Gunbroker prices are connected to reality.

Yep,I saw a beat up 590 at the pawn store in Plymouth a couple weeks ago. Price tag said $1000.00. Handed it back to the salesperson politely and moved on to the used dvds.

Prices are all over, but actual selling, many 870 police are going for $400-$600, actual pay isn’t going up much. 590A1s are more around $700-$800, but occasionally have sold as high as $1,000. Lots of new owners at the same time, unfamiliar with what prices looked like a year ago, then simple supply and demand.

To clarify, you don’t need to aim shotguns as the racking noise strikes a fear so deep into the souls of would be foes that they immediately retreat and tell their friends that “you are not to be messed with”.
Brother I got nothing for you other than...."OK"

I would hate to hear that but I tend to close the actions on a live one when I set the gauge out next to the bed.....:):

The perfect storm of Covid, Remington bankruptcy, riots/civil unrest, election drama.

You can usually tell by looking at the bid history if you're a member or the number of bids if you are not. Something with ten or eleven bids and 2+ days left to go is going to sell for a good bit over where it is priced when you look at it. If you put an item on your watch list you can still call it up after the auction is over and see what it actually went for

Shotguns were the last thing to undergo price increases. I think they might have been people's 2nd or 3rd choice when other things got pricier, and then with increasing demand comes increasing craziness/fear of missing out

I'm still a fan of shotguns, at shorter ranges they increase your chance of getting a quick hit. At really close ranges it's no different than anything else as far as spread, but the damage done by them is usually enough to require only one hit. For survival they will put meat on the table.
