As I was banking the wood furnace this morning I recalled something from the obama years. I remember an article that described proposed legislation that included the ban on burning solid fuels. While I admit there is plenty to be concerned about already, I expect that idea to be part of environmental bills floated in the next two years. By the way, I did a search in the attempt to resurrect an archived thread but found nothing relevant. If anyone is aware of a more fitting thread, I would defer to that.

Burning wood is just not acceptable, it gives the impression that someone could be somewhat self sufficent. Jim.

Do you have a source? Local LE in CA is enforcing federal laws against burning wood? I simply don’t believe it.
It is not based on anything in federal law but state laws.

You can not even build a new home with a fireplace or wood burner in California(at least 7 of the largest counties) currently.

You can google it but currently, it is illegal to burn in a fireplace or stove in a home in 7 counties.

I’m specifically talking federal law, not a crazy state like California.

Thats OK. My home would then self identify as a Cracker Barrel Country Store so its OK. (Hey, it worked with girls locker rooms... )

Don’t know how to multi-reply yet or I’d get Smokingman too, but Vail Colorado has had this for years, way before they got Califonicated, and many other mountain towns. I’ll have to say the pollution there is real, when the wind is wrong.
All they have to do is convince people that the sky is dirty.
After all that they’ve done, do you really not think they could pull this off too?
I’m with you on local LE not enforcing, at least until the new generation of copbots is here.

Imagine them telling residents that smoking marijuana is burning solid fuel, pollutes, and needs to stop.

No no no, that’s renewable fuel. Renewable fuel that will open your mind to the possibilities of the future utopia and bliss, expanding horizons of what is possible.
Or make you not care, I dunno. Just going by what I’ve heard.

I have burned wood for heat in my home for many years. When I first heard the idea of wood being banned was actually during the summer season while I was camping at Potato Creek State Park. I remember thinking, all these people all over the country are doing this right now. I really thought was going to be a s**t storm then. Thankfully that didn’t happen then. But the coal industry sure got hurt.
